In Hospital

I wanted to let everyone know that I didn’t mean to abandon you, but I have

been in the hospital the past several days because of a stroke. They still

haven’t discovered the cause for sure, but I was very fortunate. It was a

blood clot that they think might have formed in one of the chambers of my heart.

When it broke free, it then split into three and thus affected 3 sections of my

brain. I was paralyzed on my right side and I couldn’t speak.

It struck suddenly without any warning just as I was going to eat something.

Fortunately my husband was there and he found me slumped over and wedged between

the table and chair. He immediately called an ambulance and they got me to the

hospital in just a short time. There they gave me an IV of a clot busting

substance and I gradually started to come out of it. I had a lot of therapy in

the hospital and will have more the next few weeks, but I’m told that I should

be able to get back most of what I lost. In the hospital they kept telling me

how fortunate that I was that they were able to get to me so fast, because that

drug has to be used within the first 3 hours for it to work. Otherwise people

that have a stroke can have permanent damage.
