Guest guest
My family likes the way I cook mine. I lightly brown Pork country ribs, then add the sauerkraut and an equal amount of water. I then cook it for an hour to an hour and a half. I then remove the sauerkraut with a slotted spoon and serve it with the meat. The water takes out a lot of the sour and salty taste. My mother-in-law taught me how to cook it this way. Of course she also added egg and flour dumplings, but if I make them I take my portion out first and then add them for my husband. Of course I now use gluten free flour for him and he can’t tell the difference. I use 1/2 cup flour to 1 egg, combine well and drop by 1/2 teaspoonfulls into the simmering broth and cook it for 10 min. I like the plain broth too, and will strain it and drink it. It tastes good either hot or cold.
