Guest guest
Isn`t there a problem doing cod liver oil in the summer?I do use it all winter.I have been giving my daugter fish oil,cod and oumpkin seed oil.Now and then, when I remember, she gets a bit of coconut oil.Lately,I have been giving her ginko biloba. She used to get this, for brain function, and I ran out awhile ago,and never replaced it.Possibly, they vision therapy, and tinted lenses,,along with the good fats, may help.I was readong recently about ginko for vertigo, which I think,we all have at times.I did not know it was good for that when I used it before. Also, have been reading about a deficiency in the neurotransmitter Acytl-Choline and learning and memory problems.I will read the GAPS book and try to implement it.My husband does not really go along with it,and my daughter is a very picky eater, but,i`m going to give it a shot.Thankyou for your help,Joanne. > > > > Tina > > I do not know the allowances that Bee uses for children, but I know my own. Regarding the fats, our brains are mainly made of cholesterol and this is why Bee wants us to mainly eat cholesterol for our brain. The other fats that our brain need come from cod liver oil and olive oil but these are significantly less that the saturated fat that we eat. We all eat lots of saturated fat on Bees diet because saturated fat is the most nurishing fat for the brain > > Another reason why we need the cod liver oil is that it gives us omega 3. The meat we eat contains omega 6 but to help the brain function properly we need a balance of omega 3 and 6, Bee will be able to tell you the correct dose for children. I do not know the doses for children > > The other thing that helps the brain is the B complex. The brain needs all the vitamin Bs and the nervous system needs the Bs too > > The Vitamin C and E that we use are antioxidants and these help the brain keep itself clean of free radicals > > I do not know if you will be able to have your child do ketosis and I really would speak to Bee about that because Bee does not always recommend it for children. But I do know that when we are in ketosis the brain creates GABA which in turn helps the brain create other neurons it needs like dopamine, seratonin, norapinephines etc. Also ketosis helps the brain create glutathione which is a master antioxidant that cleans the brain of free radicals and oxidiztion > > Myself I only know a little about how the diet improves brain function but Bee knows a very lot about all this and will be able to tell you a lot more about it, and how to do it best with children > > There is evidence that these children have trouble utilising vegetable oils, and this is one reason suggested for the problems they have with brain function, once on saturated fat big improvments are often seen. the other problem some have is utilizing glucose and if they are able instead to use ketones this makes a difference. With others it is the general problem of not being able to absorb nutrition from the gut. The other parts of the diet deal with this later issue. As I have said, Bee can explain this better. The GAPs book you have ordered covers a lot of this too > > Love Joanne > > Tina said.................. > > > ,Thankyou for your honesty, and I think,I do believe, that many teacher`s hands are tied.It is the system. The government in our educational system, that is the problem. They need to get out of education.Look at the college mess. All these student loans. No jobs.People are going to end up going to jail over not being able to pay off their debts dur to not being able to get a job.I have already one child on the ASD spectrum and he will require life long care.Had I know back when he was born what i know now, maybe things would be different.I`m just angry and frustrated, and when i try and get any help,I just can`t seem to get anywhere.I swear, they keep telling me she is performing where she needs to be,yet,I don`t see that. They wanted her to repeat kindergarden.I said no,becasue I thought it would delay her getting any help.I think they are mad, becasue I went over their heads to request testing when they said it wasn`t necessaary.A friend of mine who is a > teacher is the one who told me to request an OT eval. They said she didn`t need it.My son is low functioning autism.my husband is likely dyslexic. She meltsdown at 2 letter words,Words that start with w or th.Can`t tell a b from a d.They don`t give her enough time to do math tests.Sight words she should have known in kindergarden, she has to sound out.I took her outside the district to get some testing, but, they don`t honour it.I think, they are mad, because I went over their head. There are other markers, like the full fisted grip when younger. She has some speech problem. Not as bad now, with very high doses of essential fatty acids. She would drop sounds from words.Mostly now it is the th sound, and she meltdown when she comes to a word that begins with th.Drops the s from her brother `s name.Never could pronounce her middle name marie. She is very forgetfull. If she knows something now, will forget in a couple days.No consistancy.Had trouble learning her > colors, shapes.Mainly she would forget.High doses of EFAS helped with that. Then,it was learning letters and numbers. She still can`t recognise many numbers.Sorry,so long winded.Thankyou again for your reply. > > --- > >
