, Personally, I think it's best to give antibiotics and probiotics at different times of days . .. I'm not medically educated though . . . At the molecular level, they may be able to prove or disprove this . . . I think educating oneself on fungal/yeast/Candida issues is terribly important when you're dealing with long-term antibiotics. It's really scary when you think of how much damage can be done with antibiotics. I'm wondering if Graperfruit seed extract, Oil of Oregano and fresh garlic might help with MRSA? . . Do they test her regularly to see what her MRSA levels are? . . . So, if you were able to eliminate it, you could quit the antibiotics? After talking to a number of the SiliconeKids mothers, two things that appear to be helping the kids is avoiding product/medicines with silica/silicones and putting the kids on a very healthy diet - hopefully from

birth. This reduces the level of toxins their little systems must deal with. One boy was born horribly ill . .. not expected to live. The mother took it on herself to do the research to find the right foods and diligently kept the child on a diet that allowed the child to flourish. the first year was touch and go. Later his mother was called on by medical experts to counsel other mothers whose children had similar problems and speak to pedicatric specialists. . . By to her account, by his late teens, the boy had no obvious health problems. . . He's been eating organic, wholesome foods . . . No processed foods . .. no junk all his life. This woman would be a wonderful asset to our group - however her son doesn't want his health issues discussed online. . . . There are a number of mothers/kids who feel the same way. As much as I would love to see them get involved, I understand. I wish there was some research on the effects of ionic foot baths, or detox foot pads on the levels of heavy minerals and toxins in kids. . .. So much needs to be done! . . . But if there isn't money to be made doing the research, it isn't going to happen. Hugs and prayers, Rogene

Hi , I am not sure if it is true that you shouldn't take the two at the same time in a day...but it makes sense. My thinking regarding this is that the antibiotics are going to wipe out the friendly bacteria, rather than the probiotic making the antibiotic ineffective. Antibiotics are like poison...they kill off everything. Taking probiotics while on a course of antibiotics is just throwing them away; they'll probably just be killed. At least that is what makes sense to me. If anyone has any other information regarding this, please post it! What I choose to do is step up the probiotics right after a course of antibiotics (which I detest using, but in some cases, such as a raging kidney infection, you have no choice). Once the last pill has been taken, I figure it takes about 8 hours to wear off, or however long it was between doses. Then I start up with

the probiotics in larger quantity. That allows the friendly stuff to get a good stronghold in the gut right away. probiotic won't make the antibiotic ineffective...will it? My dd stuggles with MRSA infections along with everything else. I HAVE to give her antibiotics to fight that even though I HATE it. I have just started her on probiotics this spring, but wondered about its effect on antibiotics. We just got out of another stay in hospital, last weekend, with her. It is so hard watching a two year old on a IV....sheesh. I blame implants for her weakened immune function and her picking up the MRSA bug. I can say that the probiotics have definately strengthened her digestive function, and the antibiotics are not causing the stomach upset that they ususally do. Rogene, It makes me so sad about the kids. No, it makes me mad. When I called Sen Enzi's office yesterday I was pretty calm when talking to the guy, until I got onto the kids....then I got really loud! I think I scared him. LOL. I can understand this young boy not wanting his illness discussed on a group forum, but I wish also that he could see how helpful he could be to so many struggling families! We all need each other through this tragic situation, and especially when answers are forthcoming....how desperately families need to hear that they can get help! If I can see anything in my lifetime, it is my hope that we stop this insanity with breast implants for the sake of our kids. This is one area where to stay silent causes suffering for future generations that doesn't have to be. We need to encourage them to speak up. PattyRogene S

Patty, I'm so glad you called Senator Enzi's office . . . I did too. I expected to get a recording, but a patient woman took my call and was very nice as I vented about the entire situation. . . . I hope Senator Enzi has the guts and backing to do something positive. It's obvious the FDA has relinquished any authority to commercial interests. Rogene
