I am one on the minority in this group who, like you, has been diagnosed with HSP and IgAN. the only HSP symptom I don't get is the purple rash. I have never had that part of it. On the flaxseed oil, my understanding is that it does not contain the same properties as the fish body oil. My Nephrologist told me that I specifically need to take the fish oil. I seem to recall several messages from a while back that discussed scientifically why flaxseed oil wasn't equivalent to fish oil. You can do a search on the Yahoo website of old messages looking for " fish Oil " and you should be able to fairly quickly find that information. I would do it for you, except I am swamped at work this week. If you can't find it, please send another email and I will search after work later today for you. Again, welcome! I was diagnosed after a biopsy in July, 2001, but only after eight different doctors and around two years of HSP and IgAN symptoms that got progressively worse. I read almost the entire web site before I decided to join. I read the section about the Fish Oil and the mixing of it with aspirin...My Dr. has me taking one Aspirin (325mg) and six (1,000mg) capsules of Flaxseed Oil per day...my Proteinuria and Hematuria have gone down, but it looks like I really need to by paying more attention to the test results, as I have not paid particular attention to it until lately. I still have the lower back pain, some headaches and just can't get out of bed some days. I'm curious if anyone else is taking Flaxseed Oil...any comments are appreciated. My son who is 9 years old was diagnosed after a biopsy last March. He isn't on any medications...as of yet. They have discussed blood pressure medicine is his protein in his urine doesn't lower much more. It has been oaver a gram in 24 hours, but now the levels usually ran about .2 to .3 grams. While enough about my story...............glad you found us.
