Guest guest
Thank you for all the messages Joanne, I still need to watch a few of the clips. I'm trying to combine all of my thoughts from everything I've just read from your posts. What is really interesting is that my bulimia started when I was 18 (I'm 23 now) and it was after I joined a gym and got hooked on weight training. I wanted to be like the figure competitors that were on that bodybuilding.com link you sent me. I got a trainer, he put me on a typical competitor diet- high protein, low carb, low fat. but he didn't know what he was talking about and after several months i started to purge because I couldn't stop binging and I didn't want to disappoint him or not get results. Then I got certified as a personal trainer and worked as a trainer all through college (my degree is in Exercise Science). I had switched to being vegan at that point- i did that for 2 years and didn't binge/purge once and never had cravings. Once again my goal to compete in a figure competition came up and I found a trainer who does competitor diets for a living. I was on that diet for about 6 months. And again, my bulimia came back. (this was 2 years ago). Then I got pregnant which postponed the bulimia for awhile, and unfortunately it came back last summer. So that's basically my story. And my husband doesn't understand anything about natural healing... and just thinks i'm crazy for eating coconut oil all the time! I've cut down significantly on exercise over the past year and realized I will never look like the girls on the fitness magazines unless I want to have an eating disorder my whole life. I am only weight training a few times a week now. My caffeine addiction was to pre-workout supplements that contain caffeine, arginine, creatine monohydrate, and of course MSG. Thankfully I gave that up about a week ago. Now I just have to overcome my obsession with super lean, muscular bodies i may be close to ketosis. currently I stick close to Bee's ratio's from the Optimal Diet and I have 2 egg drinks a day and dinner is usually meat and some veggies and fat. Once a month for my church we fast for approx 24 hours (no water or food). Do you think that would also help me getting into ketosis? You mentioned " we are hypoglycemic " ... does that mean that all people who are carb addicted are hypoglycemic? Before I got pregnant with my first child I saw a homeopathic doctor to help with my bulimia and from a blood test she found that I am hypoglycemic. I tried proglyco-sp (a natural supplement) for my low blood sugar and followed the paleo diet. At times my cravings were under control, other times they weren't. so i have no idea if the supplement did anything. You mentioned that exercising increases our body's need for glucose. Is that true for all exercise? Or just intense exercise? I'll post more in a little bit after I look at a few more of the links. Thank you!
