So I thought this might be helpful. If you have "tested positive" for silicon hypersensitivity, your doctors "will" change your prescriptions to silicon(e) free medications! If they can not find a similar medication to treat you with then they "have" to have a compound pharmacist make the prescription. If your original prescription was covered under your insurance then the compound medication should be covered under your insurance - including Medicaid.Because my sons and I have a confirmation of silicon hypersensitivity, they have no choice. They have to switch our prescriptions. All of our silicon free prescriptions have been covered, when we are on DSHS medical, in an HMO and now with preferred insurance. The first step is getting tested! If you simply tell your doctor I'm allergic to silicon, they may look at you funny and not listen, especially in an emergency room situation where the doctor has not seen you blood test confirmation of a silicon allergy. A blood test is a whole different ball game. Liability laws may come in to play if they don't take the test results seriously and you do have an adverse reaction to the medication. For information on silicone hypersensitivity and the testing kits please check out the attached website. Anyone showing possible allergic reaction symptoms such as swollen joints, fibromyalgia, gastrointestinal problems, fatigue, sinus problems, unexplained allergies, brain fog, repeated sensitivity to different mediations and so forth should be tested. If you are on daily mediations and vitamins and or are having implant removal surgery, you should be tested to make sure that all of your before surgery and after care antibiotics and pain killers are silicon free. It's best if you look up then "PRINT OUT" all of the information you can find on silicone hypersensitivity and ALLERGY SYMPTOMS, give it to your doctor and REQUEST THE TEST! If your doctors don't have the information they need to get you well then you need to give it them. There is information about silicon hypersensitivity from Doctors Shanklin and Smalley listed in Saline Support files as well as a ton of information on the internet. Just look up silicone hypersensitvity. For those of you in the UK Dr. Myhill has been doing the testing.
