God Bless You, Sim.

I work just an two hours a day. Today the weather was so humid it affected

my vertigo. I went to teach anyway, went up the curb, and the hubby had to

take me home. Each time I reach home I am exhausted. It takes me a

whole morning to recuperate to teach the afternoon. Don't know how long

I will be able to continue this, but I try as much as I can.

Are you single or are you married and do you have children?

You may want to think disability benefits if you get worse. This is not what

many of us want but sometimes you need to do what you is best for you.

I am holding out...looks like this year will have to surrender to it.

Hi everybody,

Does anyone else work full-time like me and how do you cope? Some days I want to

run out of the office crying in pain, but I hold it together somehow.

--- Hi, I work 3 days a week, part of that is housework. On my days off, I

cook and clean my own house, sell on ebay, have some hobbies, do volunteer work,

do research on the computer, and watch a little tv. I could handle a full time

job as long as it was not a lot of lifting, or pushing. I used to work full

time. My pain level is way doen now. One thing I had the most problem with was

that Ambien was making my muscle pain a lot worse. I found out by trial and

error so I quit it. Found out later that is one of the side effects. Working

will keep your mind kind of occupied, and you will be in just as much pain if

you were home. If the pain is too severe though, it is hard to keep your mind on

your work. If your work is too hard for you physically, that can be a problem.

Toxins can also cause pain, so we here are doing all we can to eliminate toxins,

and improve our nutrition, so we can better detox without doing it too quickly.

Too much detoxing can cause problems working too.

I worked full time most of my life until fibro hit 17 years ago... Just before

that, I was teaching English literature in college. There is still no way I can

physically last several hours at a stretch like that outside the home... and so

I work from my computer with occasional rest times in between.. Some days are

more productive than others, but I keep trying..

Hello Sim

I'm so sorry you are struggling. I know exactly how you feel. Yes, I work full

time most of the time. It depends on how many hours they need me at work. But I

do IT work, so I sit at a computer all day. Some days its bad, but what bothers

me the most is how I have to go back out into the cold to go home (I live in

Michgan). The cold causes so much pain and flare-ups for me.

What do you do for work? Do you sit at a desk or are you on your feet?  A few

years ago, I was a waitress and I swear it helped me because I was moving

constantly and keeping the muscles warm. Although it wore me out each day, I was

in much better physical shape than I am now. Sitting on your butt all day at an

office is so bad for your health. See if you can get some type of exercise,

even if it's easy walking or some stretching.

Have you applied for disability? You have to get your doc behind you. I've heard

its tough to get.

Hang in there.

Colleen, I'm a Graphic Designer. I'm at the computer all day, and it's a long

day from 8.00am to 5.00pm. I've been told that humans shouldn't sit at a

computer for more than 5 hrs a day! I'm applying for other positions, but then I

think if I get an interview, how am I going to feel on that day??? I work at a

printing business and some days the fumes from the printers ink and cleaning

chemicals/solvents are soooo strong. My boss doesn't believe in doors so even

though my job requires me to work in the " office " he subjects everyone in there

to the crap/fumes from out the back where the printers are. I pray I can win the

lotto...lol

Ugh the fumes! No wonder you feel awful when you are there. I can't handle

chemical fumes or perfumes, smoke, cleaning agents, dusty, moldy smells, any of

that stuff. It causes my lungs to tighen and I get bad headaches. Yes, sitting

at a computer is not good for us at all. I get pretty bored of it too. I like to

move around more. I still think if I go back to waitressing, I might improve my

health again. I know its not considered a professional job, but it makes decent

money even though there are no benefits. I pay for my own insurance now since my

employers' insurance is too expensive. I am not taking any meds or treatments,

so I do ok.

Hopefully you will find something somewhere else where they are a little more

aware of that. We aren't the only ones that have issues with strong odors.

Yes, we all pray to win the lotto! lol  Good luck! :)
