Guest guest
I'm anxious to know myself. I normally jog/walk and do light weight training myself, and with a thyroid disorder, any break in my normal fitness routine and I gain weight really fast. My husband has noticed, and subtly said "Hey baby-there's a new fitness center being built-maybe you can get a membership there!" So I know I need to get back into it-none of my clothes fit anymore, and it's only been 2 weeks since my explant! Getting too cold to walk at the park too. :(Emerald Kittee <emeraldkittee@...> wrote: hi ladies, sorry I've been away for a bit, was out of town for work. Can you tell me what the real scoop is with working out after explant? I am really not looking forward to loosing so much work out time. Is it about 6 wks? I am talking about aerobics, power yoga, pilates, light weights. It doesn't seem that there is any way to keep fit during those 6 weeks except for walking, but if you are in a cold climate.....I was thinking of just using those Sansone walking dvds and not do any upper body. Any ideas or advice would be appreciated. Stay in the know. Pulse on the new .com. Check it out.
Guest guest
I think you can go by feel on working out. I could do quite a bit within 3-4 weeks after a mastectomy, I just judged by how it felt. Guest guest
You should really just go by how you feel. You won't want to overdo it right away, but see what you can handle, and then judge how far too far is. Some women are wiped out with the slightest exertion, while other women can seem to handle more. Take it easy for the first few weeks after explant. Then add in more exercise as you feel able. You'll know if you've gone too far. Your body will be telling you it's too tired. Guest guest
Thanks ladies. I got some of the Sansone dvd's ,just in case. It kinda freaks me out, even if I felt ok, to do too much upper body work while I am first healing, so at least I will be doing something if up to it.Tricia Trish <glory2glory1401@...> wrote: You should really just go by how you feel. Guest guest
Who is Sansone? I'm wanting a couple of DVDs to use at home to motivate me. I want a good stretching routine, and I'm not sure what else right now. But there's so many out there. I don't know who's good and who's not!! Help! Guest guest
Sansone does many walking videos/dvds - she has been around for awhile - I recommend her walking ones for people who have not been exercising, as it is basic walking - in your own living room - and modifications can be made. I decided to use a few for one I cannot do much upper body after workout. I would suggest checking your local library - mine has tons of videos. For stretching, there are alot of yoga for beginners ones that might suit your needs. I still like 'Yoga for Weight Loss" with Suzanne Deason - it is put out by Gaiam. That was my first experience with doing yoga on my own years ago. This can be challenging at any level, but also just a lovely and calming stretch. It is not power yoga (which I usually do now) but I come back to this when I want something nuturing. She also has a 'beginners' one as well. I love trying out ones from the library, because you can see whose approach and voice you like before spending money. good luck! I can't say enough about yoga - it's all about working with where you are at right now and has been such a wonderful thing for me, and I have grown with it over the years. Also, if you have a yoga studio near you, don't be shy to contact them - almost all will let you audit a class for free or around 10-12 dollars - you could pay for a few classes and then get a dvd on your own.
