Guest guest
Hi Mona, I wish there were an easy answer for potty training our charge children. My son Adam is not trained at 12 yrs old. His school has been trying for years to train him as well as us at home sitting in the bathroom for long periods of time hoping for a miracle. I must say cleaning a 12 yr olds BM's is not pleasant as he is now becoming more grown up Down there. {pubic hair} YIKES. What can you do!! Adam's teacher used to put boys underpants on him during school hours. He started to understand that he shouldn't soil them. He was doing quite well with it at school. At home, well that was a different story. For some reason Adam does things for school that he just won't do at home. His teacher will tell of so many tasks he performs for them that seem virtually impossible for me to believe. If I could only be a fly on the wall! I guess there is no easy answer for most of our problems or questions pertaining to our Chargers. Maybe your child's teacher should try the underpants thing. Anything is worth a try. P.S. Adam is still not trained as he has had a different teacher for the last 2 yrs. Good luck and if you have any form of success, can you let us know? Happy New Year, Terri - Mom to Adam 12 & 14 yr old twins & my youngest 6yrs old
Guest guest
Hi Terri! Thanks for getting back to me so soon. What types of programs is your school running for Adam. What kinds of things can he do in school. Thanks Mona Nezro2@... wrote: > Hi Mona, > I wish there were an easy answer for potty training our charge children. Guest guest
Since deafblindness refers to the impact of the combined loss, I don't understand how she misses that label. Who has evaluated her? Even with a mild vision loss and a mild hearing loss the impact of the combines loss is still there. Does she have enough vision to compensate for her hearing loss? Does she have enough hearing to compensate for her vision loss? In deafblindness, you do not need to meet the federal criteria for deaf or blind; it is the combined loss that is important. Kim Mom to Dylan 6 CHARGE, Kayla 12, Tyler 14 -- Re: (no subject) > > Bonnie- I know this is an emotionally charged issue and I certainly didn't intend to bring up very difficult emotions. I'm sorry to have struck that chord in you. None of us needs to revisit that any more often than necessary. Pat's history is an amazing story of struggles and strengths -- on the part of Pat and all of you involved in her care and education. I really hope your outcome with SSI is a positive one and is resolved soon. You know, even though db is a recognized label, Aubrie doesn't fit because the hearing and vision in her good eye and ear are not bad enough. So she's not db, nor is she mr, nor is she physically handicapped in the true meaning of that label -- there is no label to describe her. She's not disabled enough in any area to qualify for that label, but she's certainly not non-disabled. So far, she's been able to fit under " developmental delay " -- the global category they allow for young children. At this next IEP we will have to choose a real category, and I have no idea which it will be. Maybe they should have a way of allowing a dx to be a label since that is really the best description of a child with disabilities related to a syndrome. Guest guest
In IL, there is specific criteria for the level of vision in the best eye and hearing in the best ear. The best of each has to be below whatever the minimum criteria is. She is above the level in her best of each. Guest guest
(no subject) IMPORTANT WARNING. Please Be Extremely Careful Especially if using internet mail such as Yahoo, Hotmail and so on. This information arrived this morning, from Microsoft and Norton. Please send it to everybody you know who accesses the Internet. You may receive an apparently harmless email with a Power Point presentation " Life is beautiful. pps " If you receive it DO NOT OPEN THE FILE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, and delete it immediately. If you open this file, a message will appear on your screen saying: " It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful " , subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC and the person who sent it to you will gain access to your name, e-mail and password. This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon. WE NEED TO DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO STOP THIS VIRUS: AOL has already confirmed the severity, and the antivirus Softs are not capable of destroying it. The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself " life owner " , PLEASE MAKE A COPY OF THIS EMAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS.
