Vicki,

I believe what you have to deal with is pretty severe...the lung problem. When I had Pleurisy, I thought it was going to kill me. I have a really high tolerance for pain, but that Pleurisy pushed me hard to my tolerance level. I was having a really bad case of Pleurisy right at the time we were having a big dinner celebration for our office. Since my husband is the owner of our firm, I had to be there bright eyed and bushy tailed. The Pleurisy was coming and going so frequently and it would literally feel as if I had been stabbed multiple times through my lungs. I hid the pain throughout the dinner so well that my husband didn't even realize the pain that I was going through. Later that evening I was still dealing with the Pleurisy and he said thank goodness it held off until we made it home. I told him it had been going on all day but I just couldn't hide the pain anymore, it makes me lift up off the bed, chair or change positions if standing, he just couldn't believe he didn't catch on. He is usually really good at knowing when I hurt and need to take it easy. I had them all fooled that night though. =:) So I definitely feel for you dealing with the lung pain.

Were you just diagnosed in Oct. '98? Or did you begin seeing a new doctor at that time? If you were just diagnosed, had you been having the symptoms, but misdiagnosed? If you don't mind my asking, what is your age?

For the first five years of my diagnosis, I was told not to exercise. Now they want me to exercise...it is really hard trying to keep a routine going when it wears you out so terribly.

Another place that I itch like mad is muscle called the latissimus dorsi...it is on the side of the back. I wonder why that occurs? the itchy skin. so strange.

I also have the Reynaud's Syndrome as well...my fingers and toes stay blue or white. Tonight when my husband got in from work, the house was 76 degrees and I was in my long sleeve t-shirt and sweats and just comfy. He turned the AC on...it gets the temp down to 68 degrees. Needless to say, I sleep with an electric blanket on my side of the bed. Thank goodness we live in Louisiana, I couldn't handle cold weather areas.

I also have a problem with blurred vision and dry eyes. Mine is not muscular related like yours Vicki. Good luck at the doctor tomorrow. Do you have to drive yourself? Or do you have someone that will drive you? Be careful and touch base with us when you get the chance. I'll keep you in my prayers for a productive visit tomorrow.

Teddi, I have a stupid question. If you are in remission, why does your doctor have you on Prednisone as opposed to another pain relief/arthritis medicine? I hope you are on a good calcium supplement and Miacalcin to protect your bones.

I hope the Rascal scooter works out for you. Anything to be more convenient.

What needle is the doctor threatening you with? Is he saying you'll need an injectable med if you choose not to take the Prednisone?

Take care everyone. I pray you all sleep well and have a better day tomorrow.

=:)
