Guest guest
Emmett, I'm also interested in what others are doing concerning exercise, and appreciate you bring up the subject. Having been very physically active most of my life including sports as well as working out, I'm still adjusting to a more sedentary lifestyle since being diagnosed 2-1/2 years ago. I'm now 53 (10-15-46). I did no exercise the first year after diagnosis, thinking it would do no good and maybe even speed up the progression of symptoms which, like you, are mainly left-sided. Then I realized that was bunk and that I had a lot of living left to do and decided the smart thing was to keep my body in the best shape possible under the circumstances. Since then I get myself downstairs to my exercise room approximately every other day for an hour of stretching, riding a stationary bike (10 minutes), cardioglide (50 reps) and various exercises on my nautilus equipment. Even though it isn't much and I'm tired afterwards, I feel better and seem to recover after resting. I, too, tend to overuse my right side to make up for my weak left side, but at least my left side goes through the motions. I also believe swimming would be the very best exercise for me but the struggle of getting to a pool, getting in and out of a swimsuit, the temperature of the water either being too hot or too cold, and getting myself back home exhausts me just thinking about it. So, for me, doing it at home works best. Again, thanks for bring up the subject. Pam Circuit Idaho
