Guest guest
Brigite Hi there my hubby lived there - in WV for years - was born there so he knows what he is getting into... he loves the mountains - he was a mountaineer.... hehe - still is. it is beautiful up there for sure - would be quite a change from here for sure.... he was born/raised in Wheeling... his dad is now in sburg. He has a brother who is a professor/doctor at WVU in town. What my hubby does for a living is unique so as far as that goes we would not have any issues... he has already had distributors in that and areas around there trying to hire him. as for me - it would be strange as if I did get well enough to go back to work i worked in the same business as he does so they would have to have an opening in my area which is unlikely... who knows.... the lack of medical and such would be an issue so we would have to get to a place closer to a larger city but still - the cost of living here is crazy... we looked up there last summer in some nicer areas and even if he took a pay cut it would still be better for us financially.... we found beautiful 4 br homes for $200-250,000 which you can not find here... you can't get a tiny condo here for that anymore... crappy homes that are 3br with little or no garage are 250 K and up.... more in the city... we are in a suberb. taxes are outrageous here as well. our property taxes are nutty - that is one thing I did not look into up in WV - are the prop taxes bad?- not sure how they are but I can say insurance and prop taxes are off the walls here... insurance especially since the last few big storms even tho none have done major damage in our area. I was mainly looking at salaries my hubby was offered, home prices, etc. I know here, in just a fairly decent neighborhood, property taxes on say a 4/2 - 2400 sq feet are around $3500-$8000 depending on the year built and whether it has a pool, etc.. My cousin just built a new home - a nice 2 story - 3,000 sq feet or so. very tiny yard,, no porch - no pool.... taxes went up this year to almost $9000.. they have only been in it for a year and they are having to sell it. It is crazy. we have been in our home for 2 1/2 years and out taxes have more than doubled - in 2.5 years. out of control....they gotta stop soon.... anyways - thanks for the info - I appreciate it - I would never move anywhere like that w/out knowing what I was getting into - that is for sure!! I don't even know if we will do it... he has just wanted to go back for the last 12 years... he said the same thing... he went for years wanting to leave there... got to florida... after 3-4 years all he wanted was to move back... thanks again!! shari
