Guest guest
Good " early " morning everyone. I have already taken two short naps, since the Carpal Tunnel Release surgery on my right hand/wrist. I want to first thank everyone for the wonderful information and most of all, the much needed prayers! First of all, my darling husband mentioned that I have a " high tolerance " to pain medications, so she (the anesthesiologist) ordered me extra Versad. Well, unfortunately that didn't work and just made me wide awake! They wheeled me into the operating room and began prepping me for surgery. My doctor (specialist) asked me if I felt him poking me in the " surgical area " , and I told him " yes " and that I could feel him using his finger nail! Next, my doctor asked if I ever had any complications from general anesthesia, and I told him that it just makes me very nauseated and my heart rate to increase very rapidly. The next thing I remember is waking up by the sounds of the recovery nurse asking me to wiggle my fingers! She then told me that they ended up having to put me asleep because my hand/wrist wouldn't go completely numb. I now have a hard, " cast like " wrap that goes almost up to my elbow. I have to wear it for two weeks, without getting it wet. I was also prescribed an antibiotic to take for a week (7 days) and a week's worth of Lorcet Plus pain pills. I want to thank everyone again for the warm thoughts and well wishes. I will also continue to keep everyone updated about my conditions. God bless everyone, Tamara (Arkansas)

It sounds like you had an excellent anaesthetist. They are worth their weight in platinum! Follow the doctor's orders and your wrist and hand will be as good as new in no time! :-) -- Lyndi
