A lot of email groups do use that format, but ours does not. As I mentioned in the other message I sent just now, *no* messages have ever been moderated in this group. In email groups that are moderated, the moderation has two primary purposes: 1) To keep the discussion on topic (so a group dedicated to Star Wars for instance doesn't end up being flooded with messages that aren't of interest to most of the people in the group). 2) To make it possible to block flamers... people who's main reason for posting is to see how upset they can make other people. In our group we've decided that that kind of full moderation would make the group so it was too narrowly focused and didn't give people the broad spectrum of support they need for all aspects of life with this disease. Because of that decision we have to live with some negatives... we do have to wade through a lot of off topic posts at times (no that's not pointed at anyone!), and occasionally a fight erupts and feelings are hurt. On the whole I think we're better for it (especially since I don't think either or I have the time it would take to actually do active moderation of all the posts that come through this group each day!) athan
Guest guest
Gail, I've had an ileostomy and now a continent ostomy since 1972. I eat whatever I want with no problems. One of the keys for me is to chew my food very carefully. Only rarely have I had problems with some foods (usually popcorn). The only modification I've made in my diet recently in deference to the PSC is to cut down on fat intake but that was on my own, not due to my doctors recommendation. Hope that helps. He watches soft breads, very spicey foods, beans, nuts, raw fruit, and raw vegetables, because many of these do not digest and come out mostly whole, ouch. He does eat tomatoes sparingly, and finds that bib and only the leafy part of romaine lettuce with small amounts of tomato and some hard boiled egg, or shredded cheese to change the taste some. Because of the inability to ingest many of these needed foods for nutrients I push, push, multi-vitamin and supplements(many times he can not take because they also upset his stomach) also he eats whole wheat bread and yogurt and sometime Boost or Slim Fast(it is supposed to have vitamins, nutrients). Hope this helps some. Dee in Peoria, wife of Bob 59, UC, ileo, psc > > > > >
Guest guest
I am so sorry haven't written I get very limited PC access. I am looking into better housing due to the fact that my physical limitations have increased greatly due to my MS. I am looking into a better option now, but I have to be approved to get a twice as costly rent from the ones who provide my waiver. Also I am waiting on a anti-fatigue drug that I hope will lessen my fatigue brought on by my MS. And my leg muscles have weakened and I cannot walk even 2 blocks without getting sore muscles. So i am waiting to be approved by medical for a scooter or power chair. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers and if you would like to write back. My personal address is lauralonelyheart777@...
