Guest guest
That was an excellent and packed with meaning episode too - thanks for posting it. Makes you think the Twilight Zone writer (Rod Serling?) came from a family with some serious dysfunction. I was slightly relieved that the episode wasn't what I thought it would be though it was still exceedingly creepy. To me the first huge " tell " that the grandmother's got a lock on the boy is when he goes to blow out his birthday candles and she stops him and tells him how to do it - her way - and then lets him proceed, her way. It was so sad how the boy just went along with it all believing she was giving him love - and what else would he do? how was he to have a sophistication many adults don't? Also heartrending is when the father begs for his son's life. Anyway I'll say no more not to spoil the ending if anyone is still to watch it. Here's what I feared the episode was about based on what you wrote...that the grandmother, by way of the telephone line, sucks out the life force of the boy and he gets weaker and weaker until dead. I wonder how many of us has felt a small version of that happening on the phone in real life? Guest guest
I haven't watched these episodes, I hope my computer will cooperate and I can watch them sometime. What I find really really interesting after reading these posts is how obsessed my brother was with the Twilight Zone. I mean *obsessed* I tried to watch it with him as a kid but never, ever could understand it or find it the least bit interesting. He obviously did. He had it much worse, as a child, then I got it moreso as the adult. So sad. But now I understand why my brother was so obsessed with the TZ. > > > > > > There's a Twilight Zone episode called " It's a Good Life " that > reminds > > > me so much of what a BPD parent can make life like for those > around > > > them if they have control.
