Guest guest
Thanks, Patty. I'll try it. Back when my children were babies, I used to make all kinds of cultured and fermented foods-- tempeh, tofu, yogurt, amazake, miso-- and it was always fun to watch the magic. This will be fun, too! Bindi Kefir grains on Ebay I just saw a kefir group post that suggested Ebay for purchasing live grains. (I have some, but not enough to go around!) So, I checked it out. Sure enough, you can buy live grains on Ebay! Here are some: 330046586168 160048274549 110052216059 I also wanted to point out that with kefir, you will get whey if you let it culture long enough. And for those who have the great cookbook called "Nourishing Traditions", you will see that whey is called for in many recipes where fermentation is needed, such as with sauerkraut. The whey ensures success every time. If you've been thinking about trying your own kefir, don't put it off! I made that mistake, waiting over a year to give it a chance. My only regret is that I didn't make the effort to get them sooner! My whole family is drinking it now, with joy! Patty
Guest guest
Oh, Bindi, you have reminded me of the days I was eating macrobiotically....heaven it was. I dream of having a nanny to cook all those delicious foods for me. I never felt better....mentally - bright, physically energized and spiritually connected plus. I do eat some of those foods still, but nowhere near what I'd like to. There's just something about eating foods that grow in your climactic area that feels good. Love ya, Sunny > > Thanks, Patty. Guest guest
Sunny, When I was living in West Java, there was a man who would ride his bike from village to village selling fresh tofu and tempeh, made in banana leaves, and it was the best. Tempeh was invented in Java. Bindi Kefir grains on Ebay> > > > I just saw a kefir group post that suggested Ebay for purchasing live grains. Guest guest
Bindi, that sounds so romantic, if I may use that word. Where is Java? How long did you live there? Guest guest
Java is one of the islands in the archipelago country of Indonesia (13,000 + islands) in Southeast Asia. Java lies west of the island of Bali. It is a beautiful, intense place, part of the "ring of fire," thus has lots of volcanos, earthquakes and tsunamis!
