Guest guest
Lets see. I'm on medications for a number of things. I take the following: Enalapril 10mg - 1 each day Zoloft 100mg - 1 each day Digoxin 250mcg - 1 each day Metformin 500mg - 2 twice a day with meals Flixotide 250mcg - 1 puff twice a day Ventolin 100mg - two puffs when I need it. I know, its a lot of medication, but considering my various health problems (and I'm only 25), I guess I don't have much choice but to take them all, really. tanweeliat wrote:Let me start. I was diagnosed with IGAN last year after having proteinuria for about 8 years. I am now on a steady dosage: Perazodin (or Dipyridamole) - 75 mg x 3 times a day Warfarin 3mg - 1 each day Cozaar Losartan 100 mg - 1 each day Is the above medication too much? Is anyone taking the same? I am asking as everyone seems to be presribed on different medication.
Guest guest
The Cozaar is pretty commonly-used in IgAN patients (or any other drug of the same class). However, are you sure the warfarin and dipyridamole are specifically in relation to your IgAN, or for some other problem related to clotting of the blood? Pierre What medication are you on? Guest guest
According to my doctor (and I have also checked with a very experienced GP), the warfarin prescribed was meant to increase the effectiveness of the other drug. I do not have any other blood clot type disease. I understand that dipyridamole was meant to control my BP. according to my doc, control the BP and IGAN will be managed. Anyone thinks I should seek a second opinion? > The Cozaar is pretty commonly-used in IgAN patients (or any other drug of > the same class). Guest guest
I'm on Lisinopril(ace inhibitor) 15mg a day, Frusemide( loop diuretic) 80 mg a day and 75 mg aspirin a day. The Lisinopril is for BP and proteinuria control(though it's not doing a great deal, I'm still leaking some 15 grams a day...), the Frusemide to help reduce edema and aspirin to reduce blood clots. Been diagnosed igan three months and have nephrotic symptoms too, and am 28. hope that helps...I'm afraid I don't know all the drugs you're on... sorry, that sounds terrible! > Let me start. Guest guest
Warfarin and dipyridamole are used together, but it has nothing to do with blood pressure, as far as I know. I've certainly never heard of it. Your doctor is right in saying that controlling BP helps to slow progression of IgAN. Some blood pressure drugs are better than others at this, and Cozaar is among them. Heparin and warfarin have been tried as a treatment, but as far as I know, these did not prove beneficial in affecting the clinical course of IgAN. Warfarin and dipyridamole are used together in cases where it's necessary to prevent clotting, such as in people with heart valve problems. Pierre Re: What medication are you on? Guest guest
I just take Zocor for high Cholesterol, and Enalapril for my kidneys. I will soon have something added for elevated phosphorus, but so far, I have only had to take two.

[snipped] I finally located a reference for the use of dipyridamole and low- dose warfarin in the management of IgA nephropathy. Woo KT, Lee GS, Pall AA. Kidney International 2000 Jan Apparently more commonly used in Asia, as second-line treatment, if ACE inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor blockers have failed. It doesn't seem to be considered an evidence-based treatment by most though. --Pierre
