Guest guest
Dave, The " sleep pattern " happened to me too at first...now it only happens when I increase dosage...once you get use to it...it will be some of the best sleep at night you've ever had...you might be drowsy during the day but if you lay down probably cannot fall right asleep (kinda like your sleep last night)...you still feel aware of what is going on even though you are trying to sleep. I never got the hot flashes....but did get dizzy at first like I had drank too much. It will work itself out in a couple of days... Janie zoloft ifrst day Well, I took my Happy Pill like a good boy last night, and i didnt like what it did. Hot flashes : i thought only women had those , now i know! Sleep pattern : erratic, checking clock every time i get up Wake mode : thoughts going by with the speed of light! Physically: What i did like this morning, my alertness, not tired even though i felt like i didnt sleep. Oh and i did find out wheat grass does have pottasium..!! damm why do all go things have to be bad! People i still need answers on chlorothiazide, i know some of you take lasik but need info pros-cons? Pierree? any thoughts?
Guest guest
Hydrochlorothiazide is an ordinary " thiazide " diuretic, mostly useful these days for lowering blood pressure in people who don't have too much renal failure. Furosemide (Lasix) is a more powerful loop diuretic, good for heavy-duty lowering of blood pressure and for treating edema. The less kidney function you have left, the less effect a thiazide diuretic will have, and the more you need a drug like furosemide instead. In most people, hydrochlorothiazide will have an increasingly negligible effect if under 50% kidney function - but that's not written in stone. Both will cause potassium loss, but a lot more so in the case of furosemide. This can be a useful effect if potassium is high, and it can easily offset the potassium elevation caused by ACE inhibitors and ARB blood pressure drugs. The con side of the equation is that all diuretics can worsen kidney function (they can cause interstitial nephritis), so they really should be used only if really necessary. Unfortunately, with chronic renal failure, you often reach a point where you need a diuretic to help eliminate the extra fluid. Also, even with milder IgAN, some people who have high blood pressure problems may not be able to control it adequately without using a diuretic. Guest guest
, Janie and Connie, I don't know who to believe, or whether I can believe any of you. I'll have to see what Pierre responds with - I think I can trust him? Frances

Guest guest
You can get it at Health Food Stores/Bars.... You actually grow it...it is a grass and they cut it and put it through a " grinder " type thing and this extracts the juice....I've tried it once it taste just like what you would think grass would. That's all I know about it.... Janie Re: zoloft ifrst day Sorry to ask, but what is wheat grass? Do you smoke it, roll in it, cut it or what? Guest guest
Frances, You can sprout it, as you would with bean sprouts etc, or you can purchase it from any reputable health food store. Raw living foods, as opposed to cooked foods are much healthier . Pete. Tudortrinity@... wrote:Sorry to ask, but what is wheat grass? Do you smoke it, roll in it, cut it or what? Guest guest
I got hot flushes which lasted about a month off and on......not pleasant but after a while everything settled down and eventually there weren't any side effects at all. I was on Sertraline for about a year and it really helped to get my brain working again to be able to cope with the physical low I was in. I wasn't treated for mental depression, although my thinking processes felt like walking through treacle and I was (still am a bit) forgetful of words, but treated for physical depression. I haven't felt the need to go back on them subsequently although my Neph suggested them for the fatigue, but as it didn't make any difference to it before, I decided not to. Good Luck.
