Guest guest
Hi, L.D.: I was concerned that we had not had a posting from you in a month. I am glad to hear from you. did a good job covering the swallowing and speech changes that are experienced with PLS. Many consider this to be an indication of Type 2 PLS. Type one does not involve speech and swallowing. Bettie Jo, my spouse and the PLSer, also makes the gulping sound. She takes smaller bites, as suggests, and it takes her longer to finish a meal. She also has problems getting pills down and we make sure that we get the pill in the smallest size possible to cut down on the choking possibility. She has had a " swallowing test " and all appeared to be normal. Your husband may want to experiment with the way he holds his head when swallowing, up, down, or turned to one side or the other. Bettie Jo also has a tendency to have hiccups fairly often, which I attribute to the swallowing problem. The strain needed to speak with force is also common with Bettie Jo. It really sounds as if your husband's symptoms mirror Bettie Jo's rather well. Be positive. Don
Guest guest
Don: Thanks for the reminder about difficulty associated with swallowing pills. I take several vitamins and find an increasing difficulty swallowing the pills, even though my swallowing test was determined excellent. (They didn't ask me to swallow pills!!) The larger the pill, they more problematic. Just yesterday, my wife suggested I put a pill on a spoon filled with applesauce...it works very well. Maybe the same will work for others. dcw_bsa_t427@... wrote: > From: dcw_bsa_t427@... > > Hi, L.D.: > > I was concerned that we had not had a posting from you in a month.
