implants found to be damaged

I was wondering if you would have a claim against the implant manufacturer if - when the implant is removed - there is found to be a hole in one of them. I have read (and I am sure I still have my paperwork from my implant) that they guarantee them for life. If they make that claim, would they not be responsible for the removal costs or some sort of reimbursement? Thanks
