I love Easy Spirit 's Coed. It has lots of support but is a soft leather

tie up. With a dainty size 9.5 to 10 narrow finding shoes is a problem for

me too. The toes in the shoes are wider than the heel- I typically get a

AA toe and AAAA heel- since I've gained weight I'm out of the 4A/6A

category thank heaven. Easy Spirit also makes a style called Motion but

those have less padding. We have a store in one of the malls here- the bad

news is the price for these is a bit steep at nearly $70.00 a pair. Lavon

:

I wear Easy Spirits, they are wonderful and I have bought them and worn

them for years. They are about $59.00 a pair, but well worth every

dollar.

Welcome to the line.

,

I have had similar problems and use fitted plastic braces from the calf down

that form fit under the foot to the ball and curve up the side of the foot.

These keep my feet from excessive rolling as I swing my left leg, help keep the

left foot from dropping, and give me an extra second of stability when I

wobble. The shoes are a half size larger and are an inexpensive court or tennis

shoe from a large sport outlet (Big 5). It is a house brand. I tried a more

expensive shoe from Nordstroms but they were too well made and had no give along

the side where the ball of the foot is. I pay $20 each on sale and use about 4

a year. They have velcro strips that are easy to adjust. The sole gives

reasonable grip but does not catch and allows a sliding motion. When I wear a

hole, throw it out and start on the next. Using this system I have been on

diving trips all around the Pacific rim and endured only a few new scars from

falls.

Hi - I'm glad you finally decided to sign on to this group. I'm sure

you'll find lots of answers to all your questions. As for me, I wear

Rockport Prowalkers and find them to be quite sturdy and comfortable.

By the way, Craig and I finally met Levy and his wife, , in

person on Saturday. I had suggested meeting since we only live 25 miles

apart and since he doesn't like to travel much, he invited us to their home.

We had an enjoyable visit and found him extremely upbeat and very

personable. Also Bill Yowell and his wife, Carol, who lives even closer,

joined us. So since Feb., that makes meeting in person Helmut and

Prahl, Don and Bettie Jo and now and Bill. Maybe next time I go

to Indiana we can come to Cincinnati since it's only 125 miles from where my

folks live and I still have an old college roommate who also lives in Cincy.

Plus, Craig would love to go a Red's game.

Again, I'm glad you're finally apart of this group.

Hi : I am 52, and have had PLS for only a few months. That's not

exactly true, I 've had it for longer, but there wasn't a name to it. I am

still mildly affected. I wear a good walking shoe most of the time. I have

2 favorite pairs. One is by K Swiss, the other Saucony. The arch support

is great, they are lightweight, and very comfortable. I never wear dress

shoes anymore like a dressy flat, or heels. I wear a Dr. Scholls oxford

with dresses. I am wondering, however, if I could find a " safe " dress shoe

to wear for my sons wedding in September. I have a really swell dress, and

need some " cool " shoes to wear with it. Take care, and God

bless........laurel

Lavon,

Have you been fitted for your AFO yet? I was wondering if you are still going

to get one, or wait for your (possible) new diagnosis. Have you heard anymore

about it?

Hi !

I was just thinking about you today. I was looking for your E-mail address

and then I found you on PLS-Friends!!! I was going to tell you about

PLS-Friends and ask you to join our group. I am so glad to hear from you.

I can't help very much with your shoe problem. I am having the same

problem. Most shoes are too tacky on the bottom for me as I need to slide

my feet to walk. I have an old pair of Reebok walking shoes that are worn

on the bottom so they work pretty good. Otherwise I just look for shoes

with smooth bottoms. I love shoes and had to get rid of quite a few pairs

over the last few years. It's so good to hear from you. I hope you plan to

be an active participant in

PLS-Friends. Hope you're well. Take care.

Sue

Barefoot in Ohio,

Finally, someone else who has mentioned hammertoe. I have never mentioned

it because I have lived with it for so long I have just put it back in

my memory, until two days ago. My feet really started acting up again and

the right foot cramped up and the hammertoe was back. It is usually there

daily, but when it is worse I do have trouble walking. It has not been

much of a problem for me, though. However, if you find any shoes, I could

use some, too. My size is 13 and they cannot have tapered toes. My newest

pair is now 3 and 1/2 years old. Hope you find something soon, although

in about two weeks you may be able to walk around Cincinnati barefooted.

Welcome to the group. Mike Gray.
