Unfortunately, the manufacturers were able to pick what Health Canada was allowed to see, which means that Health Canada viewed documentation that was bought and paid for by the manufacturers, ie, those with a vested interest in getting these deadly devices back in the marketplace. Ms Kotovych's ignorance of the subject--indeed naivete--is evident in her remark that "breast implants are great to help women who have had a breast removed due to cancer". It is only natural that a woman who has suffered through a mastectomy would want to regain her former shape. But should she do it at the expense of her health? A woman who has had breast cancer has a compromised immune system. Absolutely the last thing she needs is to have a bag--or bags--of toxic chemicals inserted into her body. Even the so-called firm "gummy bear" breast implant will break down chemically in the body because the body quite naturally attacks anything placed in it. manufacturers, as evidenced by Ms Kotovych trotting out Wally s's views on the reintroduced silicone-gel breast implants. I, too, saw him on television the other day where he was singing the praises of these implants. It occurred to me that it was not that long ago that he did the same thing: except that then he was damning silicone-gel implants and waxing on about the medical superiority of saline-filled implants! Unfortunately, plastic surgeons are not interested in women's health, but they are extremely interested in relieving women of their money. Hypomastia is the name for the medical condition of small breasts; however, any plastic surgeon will tell you that "hypomastia" is really a "disease" that should be treated! Any woman who visits a plastic surgeon's office to talk about getting breast implants should be sure to ask the plastic surgeon about the dark side of implants, including but not limited to the legacy of multiple surgeries

over the years (plastic surgeons particularly try to avoid this one); the loss of sensitivity in the breasts because of the implants (they don't like having to respond to this one either); the medical problems caused by the implant breaking down chemically in the body (millions of women worldwide simply cannot be wrong); and the problems that can be passed on to children because silicone gel permeates the placental barrier (check the medical literature). But it is certainly best to forget about breast implants altogether and just be yourself.

Lea,

Tell thank you from me for taking the time to respond to the article that was sent. I am so happy to know that your husband cares enough to defend our position. He is a special man.

How are you two doing now? I hope things are settling down for you!
