Guest guest
Kathy, I am praying for your cousin. I too have HepC but fortunatly mine isn't at that stage yet. However, it was the Interferon Alpha treatment for the HepC that made my PLS progress so rapidly. My new doc says it is very interesting because Interferon Alpha has been known to cause MS get worse but the Interferon Beta actually helps it. He is curious as to if the Beta form would help my PLS and my HepC. He wants to do a spinal tap to see if there is anything there to make it worthwhile to check out. The problem we are having with me is that most meds that help with spasticity also can cause liver damage. So we are looking into the baclofen pump. If you let me know your cousin's first name, my prayers will work even better! Did you know they are starting to do some live donor transplants now. There is such a shortage of livers and the waiting list is pretty long. She may need to query family to see if needed anyone could help donate a portion of their liver. My heart goes out to her. It must be a terribly frightening time for her and her family. Also, on your injections, when I gave myself the Interferon injections, they came in a " multi-dose pen " . I just screwed a needle on, turned a dial to set my dose, and away you go. It was really very easy. Ask your pharmacist if they have the pen with your medication. I know how hard it is to give yourself a shot but you are brave and you get a whole bunch of gold stars from me.
