I wear BareMinerals made by Bare Escentuals. I have MCS and this makeup is wonderful and I don't get any kind of reaction. They have a website www.bareminerals.com where you can order their initial kit and then now I order from their catalog. The phone number is 1-800-387-5760.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Penni.

I should have mentioned that I actually have tried Bare Minerals, as well as a few other mineral makeups -trying to make them work. The colors never match me, and they make me look an odd color. (I'm the whitest shades in both Lancome and Estee Lauder, but I'm also very YELLOW.) Plus, the finish is too shiny for my skin.... but.... I did keep the brushes!!! They are AWESOME. LOL!

If people can wear mineral makeup, it really is supposed to be better for the skin. I have friends with acne problems who swear by it.

Make Up

Has anyone found makeup without Silica or Silicone? Or is that a big deal?

I only wear makeup a time or two per week, but still, I wonder if that's OK?

It seems everything has it. Every brand, and about every related product.

Thanks,

Brig :)

I use Bare Minerals too, and love it. It fits my lifestyle perfectly, and yes, I do sometimes sleep in it! PattyPenni Pitre <penniquilts@...> wrote: I wear BareMinerals made by Bare Escentuals. Have any of you used their mascara? or eye liner? . . . those are the two products that irritate my eyes so badly that I seldom wear eye makeup. There's no telling how much money I've spent trying products that don't work! Someone told me one of the ingredients is TAR! I'd like to try Real Minerals . . . but! Rogene,

I can't wear any kind of cologne or perfume anymore. I also can't wear many

kinds of eye

makeup, because they irritate my eyes. As far as eye liner... I wonder if the

aging of my

skin makes me more sensitive to just touching my eyes - it seems to be the case.

I

suspect it is a combination of age and chemical sensitivity for me, but who

knows?

I use their eyeliner and love it. I thought I would hate to use a dry powder, having to mix it with water and paint it on. But I find that it is really easy and I never have had any reactions to it. I also bought their mascara, blush, lip liner and lip color. Love it all! I had a long discussion recently with one of our silent sisters . . . She did a lot of research into the differences between Silica and Silicone . . . This is what she told me: Silica CAN be safe . . . the natural silica found in vegetables and other organic places . . . the Mineral Silica - like that taken from a mine, is not. The Silica we see added to supplements is safe IF it's the natural type. Natural silica is necessary for good health!. . . The label won't tell you though! . .. You have to check it out for yourself! I don't understand half of what she told me, but if you are concerned, it would be worth investigating in depth. Rogene

Flora puts out a supplement called vegetal silica. I have taken that and not experienced any negative effects. When I was looking for silica supplements and doing research, I was appalled to find supplements that were actually quartz! Where they get the idea to consume rocks, I am not sure! I know plants take up minerals in their roots, but what we get is an organic form of it, and I feel much better about getting it that way. Maybe I am all washed up, but I won't take any chances! The vegetal silica sold by Flora is a green powder, and is marketed as necessary for strong hair and nails. Here is what is said about it: http://www.vitacost.com/FloraVegetalSilica/csrc=SHOPFEED-ssp Aqueous extract of Spring Horsetail. For Healthy Hair, Skin & Nails. Premium Herbal Formulas. Flora's premium Vegetal Silica is prepared using a unique aqueous extraction method developed and patented by Dr. Louis Kervran. This method ensures the vegetal silica is bonded or "chelated" to a group of water-soluble bioflavonoids. Only this method offers a safe and highly bioavailable form of silica that is easily assimilated by the body.Vegetal Silica helps maintain strong, healthy hair and nails plus promotes soft, supple skin. Rogene, in doing some research, I even found out that most mascara's

contain fiberglass!! They use it for thickening the lashes.

Lovely...just what we need around our eyes. No wonder my eyes would

be itchy. I'm trying to remember the mascara I bought...I'll have to

go to the store and see again. It didn't bother me. My memory is

playing tricks on me that last couple of days.

Love ya lots,

Sunny :)

OMG . . . No wonder my eyes water so badly when I wear mascara! . . . It's so irritating! When I want to dress up and look good, I may have tears running down my face for hours! Not always though - haven't figured that one out! I recently started rinsing my eyes with eye wash after taking off my mascara with coconut oil . .. You would be amazed at the amount of mascara that comes out of my eye! . . . I recently bought some expensive stuff that doctors (supposedly recommend) at a high-end department store. I tolerate it a little better than the other stuff . . . but not much. Rogene

Same here... I've also found that the more high end mascaras don't irritate my eyes as bad. I have Dry Eye Syndrome and sensitive eyes as well, and over the years it also started bothering me. (As did drug store brand make up of all types.) It seems like I can tolerate Lancome mascaras, but not Estee Lauder. (I get them when they are free gifts with purchase, or find them on eBay after they've been free gifts with purchase.)

Everyone tells me their "dermatologists" recommend Clinique -everything, but I've not tried much of their stuff. They don't have shades of makeup to match me, so I've just not tried anything else.

Oh, what we go through!!! lol

I found this very interesting, as I too gave up wearing make-up about three years ago d/t the irritation it was causing me. Before, I never left the house without it!!!!

MiEssence by One Group is 100% organic. I like the skin care. The makeup

like the lipstick and blush is lighter than it appears on the computer.

Can anyone recommend some non-toxic make up brands? I am having a hard time

finding one that suits me. Thanks for your input!
