Guest guest
My doctor that did the explant noticed this upon removal and put it in his surgery notes... he weighed the implants when removed and noticed that each had a large amount of fluid missing and that one of them had mold and tissue growth in the valve holding it partially open... he wrote a letter for me as well... then we sent them to Doc Blais in canada who analyzed them and confirmed the mold, etc... - he also confirmed that both valves were leaking and each had large parts of the shells and fluid missing... it was in his report... if your have been out a while I am not sure how accurate an analyzation would be... maybe getting the capsules removed and looked over would help - I am not sure... they will definitely show if there are pieces of the shell stuck in them but as far as contamination... I just don't know - are you referring to getting insurance coverage? if so then I doubt you can go back after it has been done and get it covered... with my insurance I tried to get pre-approval.. they said they would not cover it unless I could prove leakage or severe capsular contracture... I had them removed and when the doc wrote the letter proving that both were leaking upon removal it made things easier... how long ago was your explant? I am not sure about most insurance companies these days.. most will do whatever they can to get out of paying for these types of things unless you have very good proof which is not easy for us to get... I think I was pretty lucky with my case as you could see the mold right away and the doc noticed and mentioned it in his letter to the ins company. After the fact they will probably say they could have become contaminated outside of your body unless they are being stored at the hospital in a sterile place where they can not be tampered with. Just my opinion of course, but I have been through a lot w/ my insurance company over the years and I am pretty sure these things will come up. Even with the proof and surgeon notes that I had I had to go thru several appeals and months of waiting... I didn't pay as much as some for my explant as I did not go out of state so it wasn't a ton of $$ I got back - it was more the point... I wish I had gone to a better known doc but at the time we do not have out of state/network benefits and so I went locally... I really liked my doctor but if I could go back I would probably have gone to Kolb, Feng, or Huang... my opinion again of course... how long ago was your explant again> are you getting your capsules removed? thanks shari
Guest guest
Since my implants are already out and the capsule is still left inside of me Is there a way to detect or prove there was leakage or contamination ? Thanks, Sandy hi there, you could always use a credit card as I did... also get a personal loan from your bank or credit union... I am sure most financial companies offering personal loans would do so if you qualified... also the PS you are using may have options for financing as well although they may have much higher rated than just using, say a lower rated personal visa or mastercard.... this is what I had to do at first as I did not have the $$ then I appealed later with my insurance and won but that took quite a while to get paid back... plus that was years ago... not sure what insurance plans are doing these days - mine were both highly contaminated and leaking - when that was proven I got mine back less my co-pay but it took several months thru the appeal/wait process. I hope this offe some help good luck! shari
