Guest guest
HELP PLEASE! You might recall my ps was adament that I not wear a bra after explant, and as the responses revealed, no none here EVER heard of that. When I went for my pre op apt. last week she said 'you promise me you will not wear ANY bra for at least 4 wks, and then - we'll see how you are healing - everyone is different. I want you to buy several camis - some with shelves and some plain - make sure they are very snug, but do not wear the shelf one at night. We'll have to just see where you are when the drains come out, but your tissue will be very influenced by what is around it, so it's crucial we pick the right thing.' When I asked about a soft cup sports bra she shook her head vehemently and said 'NO, no no!' I do not defer to the medical establishment, but I am so freaked out by this conflict - I want to do EXACTLY what you all did and what Melmed told me - wear the zip front champion sports bra, however, I keep thinking 'is there some darn reason it would be wrong not to do what she says?' She told the story of this woman who blew off her lymphatic massages and follow up appts, went out and wore an underwire and now has a dent, post explant. she said 'I do not want you to get away from me like she did - we need to monitor how you are shaping out each week' (it's true you come 2-3 times a week for the massage and she checks you out - this tapers out - but she is constantly checking you out - she does this with all surgeries. They also make sure you are on the supplements, and avoiding bad food/behaviors) I honestly cannot see myself cancelling surgery - I just need these out. I want to feel sure of my decision - I wouldn't tell her if I wore the bra and then just show up in the camis (she said to bring the bras I bought too, just in case, and we'll go over what looks like it would shape me best) - I don't like NOT being on the same page as her, as I will be lying about what I am doing at home, but I suspect you all are right on target and she is not. So, I am wondering when did you start wearing your sports bra? After the drains came out? (do bandages come off at the same time, I forgot to ask) PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU WORE THIS FIRST SO I WILL BE ABLE TO FOLLOW THIS The coutdown begins - oh my!! thank you ladies for leading me down this path - I am nearly there and I am soo excited!!
