. .. When they do a lift (mastopexy), they cut around the nipple and move the nipple up . . . There are several incisions used for implant/explant . . . one is called the donut - around the nipple . .. another is the lolipop - around the nipple and straight down . . . the other is called the anchor - around the nipple, straight down, then under the breast, like a smiley face . . . There is not a "right or wrong" incision. The doctor MAY offer you a choice . . . but will probably know which incision to use, based on your needs and/or his/her experience. If you don't have a lift, they may use any one of these incisions too . .. but most likely just the smiley face without additional incisions. Some use the donut incision for just removal though. Unless you scar badly (and since you've

already had surgery, you should know), your scars will be very narrow and should fade to almost nothing. Hey , The nipples are only moved if you are having a lift. All three of these incisions--- the donut, the lollipop and the anchor-- are used strictly for breast lifts, also called mastopexies. The main strategy in a lift is to cut around the nipple, excise the extra skin, move the nipple up, and then sew the sides back together with nipple in proper placement. The donut simply cuts around the nipple, pulls up and cuts off the loose skin, then resews the nipple into place, which leaves puckers that eventually disappear. An explant will not necessarily use any of the above. A simple incision at the base of the breast can be used for implant removal. Some women can be explanted through the same incision as implant (except for going through the belly button). Having an en bloc removal, however, requires a larger incision. Patt/Rogene - when are you two going to be on Oprah to educate the masses! I can't get over what I learn here daily. I am guessing I wouldn't have a lift as I haven't had children and was a small A prior to implants. My were put in via the donut kind, and the scars are still there - in fact, they seem to be more visible in the last year.Tricia Trish <glory2glory1401@...> wrote: All three of these incisions--- the donut, the lollipop and the anchor-- are used strictly for breast lifts, also called

Emerald Kitty,

They didn't move my nipples they went in the same incision scar as they
