Guest guest
Thanks Joanne, I saw this today, and not sure we have seen it before. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK98219/ C > > and Laurie > > Doctors do not know why the ketogenic diet works so well and for so many illnesses too, and it is because they do not know how it works that they are struggling to create treatments that mimic it. They have made a few attempts and there are currently several meds on the market that claim to do what the diet does but from what I am witnessing with all this is they are in the main a waste of money and simply doing the diet correctly yields far more healing than anything else I have looked at > > As you know, me, and several other folk here, and some on bees board are finding that ketosis, in addition to the foods on Bees Optimal style diet are working for our fibro and other conditions. We of course do not fully know why since no doctors as of yet have really studied this in relation to fibro. But what we do know from looking at other studies relationg to fibro, folk with fibro need GABA, Glutathione, more stable neuron activity and stable blood sugars. This article here show some evidence that this is at least in part how ketosis is working, > > http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2692867/ > > I will have a think, to see if I can remember anything else that might be of use to you > > Love joanne > >
Guest guest
Thanks Joanne, This article is fascinating. This is all starting to come into focus, thanks to you! I feel my best when I don't eat. If I eat when totally re-set (which is how my body feels) I can have a little broth or a little soup - more than that no. Also, interesting that I was given many anti-epileptic drugs for pain in the beginning that either didn't work or made me feel awful, so I stopped - but the overlapping of is interesting. I am now ready for supplements, so I am looking at what you say and what Bee is recommending - I need to start slowly, so I'm starting to write a list of what is most crucial first to introduce. Any thoughts? First order of business though: Since I'm tapering off a pain pharma, I need some extra help with pain when I'm off this - and Washburn in her wonder #2 GAPS talk mentioned di-magnesium malate - the reviews on amazon for this are amazing btw, particularly for those with various pain syndromes - I found a cleaner source that is in powder form (no binders) from a place online Prescribed for Life. (I have been taking CALM but it is not really working anymore and I'm hearing not very good things about it now). Magnesium is definitely the superstar of supplements as Washburn calls it - we're so deficient in it. Guest guest
Joanne, This is very encouraging!!!! The video was also inspiring. This little boy was so very sick... It's also heartening to see this info on mainstream media! The read on your pain numbers is also really wonderful to hear - was this fibro pain then? I feel so much better today hearing this. I can't thank you enough! My intuition has alway been that these drugs are making me worse and that when I am finally off of these drugs my healing will accelerate. Unfortunately I can't stop cold turkey, so I'm tapering slowly... L > > Laurie > > I usually tell folk to do just what they think is best regarding meds. I stayed on mine whilst I go the foods in place and the supplements and then slowly weaned down. To my utter amazement when i got off all my meds that is when the rapid healing occured. > > It seems the meds helped early on but as the diet got working the meds were actually stopping me healing. This couple here have found the same affect with their child > > > > With me, before the diet my pain was always between 8 to 10 out of 10. When I was on the diet and meds, my pain was around 4 to 7 out of 10, but now I am off all meds my pain is 1 to 3 out of 10, and most often 1, it will only go to 3 out of 10 if I am very stressed or I have been blasted with toxicity, usually electromagnetims >
