Carrots need a lot of nitrogen and grow poorly in clay soi(which I have here). I do not have a problem with flies because I use the companion planting. This helps with ridding some of those pesky pests. http://www.the-gardeners-calendar.co.uk/Companion_Planting/ Hope this site helps. ________________________________ To: fibromyalgiacured Sent: Monday, March 12, 2012 12:45 AM Subject: Re: Â Hello I have a question about carrots, the raised bed we bought even though its about three feet deep the directions have us put in a floor 10 inches down. Is that deep enough to grow carrots? And do you get the carrot flys?
