Re: Truly Funny Moments with Nada

Thanks for sharing this with us. My nada has a wonderful sense of

humor, when she is in her more balanced days. My sister and she used

to make up entire stories about fictive people and - when we were

small - talking animals and stuff. I can't think of any specific

memory right away, but yes, definitely, she can be truly funny. " Rage

she did, beat us she did, split us and lie to our father (and about

our father) she did. " and I could say exactly the same. But sometimes

she was so dang funny. It is weird that your post made me rather sad

though...

Well it was weird but one night during a family get-together, with a

video tape recording, this subject came up again. My nada wasn't

trying to be funny but we went wild, and this was forever known

thereafter as the " Testicles Talk. " It probably doesn't sound funny

but she was so deadpan serious and it was so off the wall in the

first place that we cracked up and do to this day when it is

mentioned. Please note: my nada died the same day as ny Cash. I

think it was in 2003 but I am not sure, I don't remember even though

I look it up sometimes when I need to know. It was September, that I

remember.

this? Our nada could be such a laugh riot sometimes. She called, for

example, hush puppies " puppy hups. " Sometimes she seemed to have a

fantastic sense of humor - whether by accident or design, I know not.

Rage she did, beat us she did, split us and lie to our father (and

about our father) she did. But sometimes she was so dang funny.

smallpox vaccination, she had the doctor do it on our upper thigh, so

we'd have unblemished arms. Can you just imagine the scene in the

doctor's office, in the early 1950's as she insisted he do it her

way? Yup, she won, we've got beautiful unscarred arms. Here's to a

narcissist who passes it on, LOL.
