Guest guest
What happened at Mayo in sdale? Or, did I miss something. I don't know if there can be any comparison between Mayo/sdale & Mayo/Rochester, but I had excellent treatment, and a fairly quick diagnosis going thru Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. For me, it is an extremely convenient clinic to visit, as I live only 2 hrs South. Perhaps I am a bit prejudiced, as I happen to work for the Mayo Health System. But, I got immediate attention, testing, and a diagnosis a mere 6 weeks later. Hope your trip to Loma is as successful. Take care and God Bless. Laurel Re: Re: Loma reply , Good luck at Loma ! Keep us posted on how things went. May they go well for you and may you feel blessed and understood after your appointment. I won't say anything about Mayo at sdale. Your comment is enough. I searched on the internet for a clinic that might have some experience with PLS and Loma is the only one I found that mentions PLS. I'm sure other clinics actively treat it, but make no mention on the info pages. There was one other place that looked interesting, their Dr. specializes in difficult dx's. But my doctor felt we'd be best off with the PLS angle. As most of you know, I was fairly mild, early PLS, but found out I had Hepatitis C in November. I felt that explained my extreme fatigue so it made sense to treat the HepC in hopes of making the PLS better. Well, the results were just the opposite. The Interferon/Ribavirin caused my PLS to worsen drastically. It has been 6 weeks (this Weds.) since I last took the Interferon. I have lost most of my muscle strength and my speech really bad. My doctor originally tried to get me into Mayo sdale since it is only 2 hrs away, but they refused us an appt! They said they limit their appts. to people they think they can help! Oh well, I wasn't thrilled with them 3 years ago anyway. I just hope Loma is the answer. I was interested in Dr. Bill's input re: autoimmune disease. It makes me wonder why the Interferon would have had such an affect on me. I guess that is for the doctors to decide. Wish me luck!......
