According to Dr. Schulze, if you eat a little of the watermelon rind it has a

very cleansing affect on the kidneys but if you eat too much rind at once....and

he says he made that mistake once, you will pee fire. This will hurt you but it

will not harm you. As watermelon is mostly water, I doubt you could ever eat

enough to cause yourself harm. Betsy

Oh this is so good/surprising to hear...since I shouldn't eat tomatoes

(which is kinda OK since I'm not all that crazy about them) due to

their solanines and muscle and joint problems.

Love watermelon,

Kit

> Watermelon is the lycopene leader in fresh produce, having higher

concentrations of lycopene than any other fresh fruit or vegetable. In

fact, fresh red watermelon contains higher levels of lycopene than

fresh tomatoes – a 2-cup serving of watermelon contains and average of

18.16 mg and one medium-sized tomato contains 4 mg. Preliminary

research with processed tomatoes and tomato products shows that

lycopene may provide a preventative effect against certain types of

cancer, including esophageal and prostate, as well as against heart

disease and stroke.

> Watermelon is also high in:

> Vitamin A (important for optimal eye health, and it improves

immunity by enhancing the infection-fighting actions of white blood

cells called lymphocytes),

> Vitamin B6 (used by the body to manufacture neurotransmitters such

as serotonin that may help the body cope with anxiety and panic), and

> Vitamin C (bolsters the immune system's defenses against infections

and viruses and can protect a body from harmful free radicals that can

accelerate aging and conditions such as cataracts).
