Guest guest
Hi Gimpydimp, Your dogs sound like great 'children'! My son is 16 now and pretty much all grown up so my dogs have become my new children. They enrich my life so much and I am so glad I decided to adopt them. I used to have cats but after years of dealing with litter boxes and promising my son he could get a dog we finally did. Unfortunately when I reinjured my ankle in April of 99 I became unable to work in August and then lost my home in December. I had to find new homes for my 2 cats as my brother who is still at home with Mom is terribly allergic to cats. I think any pet enriches our lives and helps us feel better emotionally. It is interesting that you also have fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed with it in 92 after sitting around for a few years treating my right ankle. It more or less went into remission and wasn't much of a problem after I got RSD under control then it became active again after my reinjury in 4/99. Now after a good night's sleep I am so stiff I can barely move and my ankle hurts so bad from lying in one position that it takes about 2 hours to limber up and let the pain subside enough to do anything. What works best for the stiffness and circulation problems for you? Have you found any med to be better than another? I am always looking for a better way to handle the symptoms as I cannot have any more blocks now. I haven't found anything else that reverses the freezing pain caused by the RSD. Have you ever tried Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatments? I am researching that to try to get my insurance company to approve it for me as it is about the only thing I haven't tried. I am willing to try anything once so any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Take care, Debbie/DJ ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Guest guest
RE: Fibro. I try to ignore it a lot but it's not easy. As you said Deborah it makes you pretty darn stiff and painful especially in the morning. It takes me a long time to get up. The pain is worst in my left arm, and left side but it's in the right too. The burning, buzzing pain is most pronounced in the morning and often it is hard for me to sort out what is causing what pain where with me at any moment. I take Prozac which helps increase serotonin in the brain and that is low in people with FM. Helps fight the fatigue. I have taken other stuff over the years but none of it works for long. The sleep problems are very difficult. I simply cannot fall asleep in less than 1-1/2 hours or more and if I wake up some time at night, that's it for another 2 hours. I just lie awake and feel all that burning all over me and my mind sort of meanders along, not worrying, not tense, but just active. All in all, it's a bummer.
