Guest guest
Terri, you bet you have a right to see your file anytime. Or ask for copies of anything. It's your legal right. Atleast in Canada, it is. I went to the hospital here and asked to see my file. They set me up at a desk and let me go at it. Boy, the things I read that the therapists wrote about me when I was in psycho-therapy. If they only knew that I knew! lol My doctor expects me to ask him for a copy of all the lab tests. The girls at the front desk used to say, " Did Dr. McIntyre say you could have it? " Now they just do it. Not very many people do this, so they're not used to it. And if I decide I want to see my file, and they say " no " , I just get a lawyer to sign a paper and in 24 hrs. it's mine to read. Guest guest
Terri, I'm going through the same thing with a doctor I used to see a couple of years ago, long before I realized my implants were a problem. She did some autoimmune tests on me, including lupus, all the arthritis, etc. She said one was abnormal, but that they had one more test to run and they would call me with the results in a few days. I never got those results. them for 2 months straight-I was in extreme pain and had not been diagnosed with Fibro yet. Finally, I switched to another doctor, who also tried to get the test results, with no luck at all! I called back a few days ago, explaining my situation with the settlement I'm in (didn't mention what settlement though), and I said that my lawyer had requested the records. The nurse threw a fit and literally yelled in the phone "How dare you threaten me?!!" Huh? I was not threatening her or the doctor! So this is not going to be easy for me either. Not sure about your state, but by law, a doctor has to give you the results, and cannot charge more than $20 for the copies.
