I would like to know if anyone if familiar with house bill 3423, and if your service has taken any special provisions.

The bill is in regard to accepting possession of certain abandoned children. What this bill states is that an (a) emergency medical service provider shall, without court order, take possession of a child who is 30 days old or younger if the child is voluntarily delivered to the provider by the child's parent and the parent did not express intent to return for the child.

An emergency medical services provider who takes possession of a child under this section shall perform any act necessary to protect the physical health of safety of the child.

No later than the close of the first business day after the date on which an emergency medical services provider takes possession of a child the provider shall notify the department of protective and regulatory services that the provider has taken possession of the child. The department (Regulatory services) shall assume the care, control, and custody of the child immediately on receipt of notice subsection.

I know of one service who bought diapers and baby toys to keep on standby incase they are placed in this situation. Please feel free to give feedback to my private email address.
