As always, thanks SO much, Joanne!

Tomorrow is MY day. I don't think I'll be able to lie outside, though - it's

supposed to be 104 in the shade :-( I'm going to water fast for 30 hours and

treat myself nicely - *that's* what I haven't been doing. I have sick kids and

I haven't been getting much rest.

A doctor friend wants me to try 50/50 rubbing alcohol & vinegar in my daughter's

sore ears. He suspects swimmers ear and it seems to fit, after I looked it up.

Haven't decided if I'm going to try it. Waiting to hear what Bee says, I guess.

I forgot about heat - she's on a heated cloth now - thanks! I'm also increasing

vit c and encouraging her to sleep a lot.

I'm going to keep checking in here as I strive for ketosis the next few days. I

think just knowing I have to be accountable may help :-D I feel stronger

already!

Hi

I consume about 40 gr of carbs, all of it vegetables allowed in Bee's diet. I

noticed that if I eat less I start eating too much protein, I have been on the

diet for almost 7 months, so I don't have an urge for high carbs at all. 40 gr

vegetables is a lot and that keeps me in balance. I cut all the vegetables, put

them in a pan and stew them for 40, 45 minutes. I always add tomato puree from

an organic can, so that it cooks throughly with the tomato's liquid, it taste

really good.

We do not need high ketosis to heal and it can be counter productive, like in

your case, you force yourself too much and at the end you don't heal faster,

just harder. 40 gr of carbs keeps me in moderate ketosis. I don't checked the

ketosis test strip anymore because after a while we don't have ketones left in

the urine, our body burns the throughly. Most of us heal with moderate ketosis.

Try to go this way and if you feel as good as with 15g you will heal the same

way. Look at your ratios because mine is 40 gr, maybe your allowed ratios are

more or less.

Here is the link for your ratios

PS: I also use about 1 tsp of stevia a day ( in the ice cream and egg drink) and

do not feel the urge to eat more carbs, which is the reason why Bee says we

should not eat so much. The green stevia I use has very little carbs.

I too have osteoporosis and am premenopausal.  Would you mind sharing with me

how much weight do you lift.  I have just recently been diagnosed and know I

need to do some weight training but I jsut don't know how much.

Thanks,

Lovell

Subject: Getting back into ketosis

Hi all,

I started high fat, medium protein and 15g carbs a day 2 months ago. My

first 4-6 weeks were great - a couple of slips, but got back into ketosis

easily and quickly.

Three weeks ago I went away to our other house (6 hour drive away) we've

been trying to sell for 2.5 years to do some maintenance on it. I took 5

of the children with me. Due to the stress I came out of ketosis with my

old downfalls - fruit, yogurt, honey and cheese - and can't seem to get it

back. I've tried all my tricks - vitamin c throughout the day, salt water,

water fasting for 24 hours - and I can do it for a couple of days and then

something snaps and I'm an addict looking for my carb fix :-(

I love the way I feel in ketosis - physically, emotionally, spiritually - I

just can't seem to bully through the addict behavior when it rears it's

ugly head. I've even used the visualizing Joanne spoke of - to not avail

(well, it just didin't work long enough).

Could exercise be a problem? I know Bee doesn't recommend heavy exercise.

3x a week I lift weights for 15 minutes and do intervals for 15 minutes.

So, not too much, but something. I have osteoporosis (at 47) and was told

this is important to do while I'm still premenopausal.

Anyway, short of sending the fruit/yogurt/honey with my dh to work so I

can't eat it - I don't know what to do. I'm so weak. Any suggestions?

I have the set of dumbbells where the 2 largest are 5 lbs. each. I was wondering

if I need a floor set with large weights.

Thanks,

Lovell

When I was first diagnosed (3 years ago), I found a website - fityummymummy.com.

I signed up and did/do her exercises 3x a week. I think any weightlifting will

work, though.

I also drink bone broth daily 8 months a year (it's just too hot in the summer

and iced bone broth has congealed fat - doesn't work for me right now).
