Guest guest
Hi everyone, I read recently that most autoimmune diseases seem to have a hormonal component. I was just curious to see if this has been the case of any of the women in the group that have been diagnosed with autoimmune problems. If so, when did the symptoms start and did it disrupt your normal menstrual cycles? God Bless, Liz
Guest guest
I developed my autoimmune diseases (Fibro, CFS) at the same time that I started getting " female problems " a few years ago....ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, andenomyosis, and a severe cervical infection. Not sure if it's related to my implants or not, but I wouldn't doubt it. --- graceinlve <graceinlve@...> wrote: > Hi everyone, > > I read recently that most autoimmune diseases seem > to have a > hormonal component. Guest guest
I don't know how much the hormonal component played a part of my autoimmune diseases, as far as reproductive hormones go....of course, since I have Hashimoto's autoimmune thyroid disease, it's all about the metabolic hormones being out of whack. But the endocrine system is all interdependent, meaning that a problem in one can certainly have a domino effect on others. The question is "how will it manifest itself" and how long will it take to show up? Estrogen has a depressive effect on thyroid, so I don't know if my problems started there or not. It can take years to play out, too. It took 4 years for me to develop Hashimoto's (or at least to the point of being diagnosed with it) and I believe that these thyroid issues may eventually lead to other conditions where hormones are involved. Hopefully I can keep on top of it enough to ward off any other conditions. I did not have any disruption of my menstrual cycles throughout my implant illness, except for the times I was on progesterone creams. I screwed up my cycle with that. I got off it and things settled back down. Patty graceinlve <graceinlve@...> wrote: Hi everyone, I read recently that most autoimmune diseases seem to have a hormonal component. Guest guest
I have hashimoto's too, Patty. That was my 'first' diagnosis. Then the rest of it hit me like a ton of bricks.... I wonder how much of my weight gain was due to all the hormone imbalance... okay I know that Ben and Jerry's had a small part. But I " ve eaten it before, and never gained this much weight. Of course, I have given up Ben and Jerry's completely, or I would never lose weight. > Hi everyone, > > I read recently that most autoimmune diseases seem to have a > hormonal component.
