Hi All:

I just joined the list and would like to introduce

myself.

Currently I have been diagnosed with Fibro, Diabetes,

Asthma, Hypo Thyroid, Cognative Disorder, Major

Depression, and now Congestive Heart Failure. I am on

Glucophage XR, Synthroid, Vioxx, Premarin, Effexor XR,

Amitriptyline, Trazodone, FloVent, Albuterol,

Furosemide, and Zestril. I feel like a walking drug

store. :>(

Since last May I have been going through an extremely

stressful time and I have developed several additional

medical problems from it. What has me really concerned

now is the newest one...heart problems. I am really

scared now.I experienced my first heart attack last

Monday night and it really scared the heck out of me.

Living alone I am now starting to go into a panic

whenever I have the slightest chest pain. I am doing

my best to cope but I am coming to you for some

support.

I applied for SS Disability last Spring and still

haven't heard anything from them. In the mean time,

with no health insurance, my meds are costing me

almost $400 per month (plus my doctor bills)and that

doesn't leave much out of my small pension to pay the

rest of my bills much less buy food. Shouldn't I have

heard something from SSD by now?

Any help and support from all you wonderful people

will be very appreciated.

Dear Tina, Welcome to the group!

You do sound like you have a " full plate " of problems.

I, too, am currently waiting to find a cardiologist

for

the cardiologist who doesn't do surgery told me the

artificial heart valve I have had for only 5 years is

covered with scar tissue. He gives me 6 months to

live. It's pretty scary!! However, I've decided he is

NOT God and only He can tell when my time is up!

Discussion of Social Security benefits is something we

haven't discussed in a long time. I am not up on this

subject. Hopefully some of the members can help.

In the meantime, we are a support list and ready to

talk about your problems. Please post and we'll try

to

answer.

Here are some hugs for you too! ((((((NANCY)))))

I forgot to add I am not new to diabetes as both of my

parents had it, so I have grown up learning to deal

with it indirectly. I was just diagnosed last year

with it and am still in the learning stage of dealing

with it on myself.

BTW My father lived 17 1/2 years after his

cardiologist gave him 6 months. Good luck.

Tina- I know nothing of SSD or meds but I admire your resolve! I do know

the squeaky wheel " gets the grease " ...

Glad you are here.

----------

Thank you for your concern. Yes I have talked to a

pharmacist about all my meds and because of it I am

going to get off the Amitriptyline and the Vioxx as

soon as I can (after talking to my doctor). He thought

I might be having heart problems due to the Vioxx and

said because I am taking the Trazodone I shouldn't

need the Amitriptyline too.

Now about the SSD I tried calling today and didn't get

any where so I will continue to call everyday until

they tell me what is going on. If I need an attorney

to progress further I will find one to help. I will

keep everyone posted as to what I find out.

Thanks again for everyone's support this group is

great.
