Guest guest
Hi , I have never smoked but have heard that acupuncture is extremely helpful, as is hypnotherapy. One acupuncturist here guarantees that her patients will stop smoking permanently if they begin and follow her treatment. If you do not quit smoking, it will hinder your healing. Some physicians won't operate on a smoker. Kenda > Dear anyone, > I am being explanted on December 13th, i am having alot > of trouble stopping smoking. Guest guest
hi , I would suggest you be honest with your ps - have you talked to him/her? I had to be around a bunch of smokers, unexpectedly, for a few days just 3 wks prior to my surgery, and my ps said I did the right thing in coming to her with this info. She said had I been smoking (and not just getting it 2nd hand) it would have been even worse and she would have rescheduled. There is no shame in rescheduling - come up with a quitting plan - you might need the ps's help in this. My ps tells all patients that smoking of course messes with the collagen production and healing, and the nipple could actually fall off, because it is so vunerable. I swear she said that, I know it sounds wild. Google "smoking and surgery" and it may give you enough of a scare to tackle it and reschedule. Here is a powerful site that some of my loved ones have used to motivate themselves and get info - www.whyquit.com. Good luck - it's good you were honest with everyone here - you know it's important. We are here for you!!!! nicole Trudeau <nicole_trudeau2000@...> wrote: Dear anyone, I am being explanted on December 13th, i am having alot of trouble stopping smoking. Guest guest
. . . Self programming can work wonders . . . very, very powerful! Several times a day, while you're in a very relaxed state, see, hear, and feel how good you feel without cigarettes . . . and see, hear and feel all the negative things associate with smoking. i.e. visualize yourself free from smoking - hear yourself tell everyone how good you feel - and how good your lungs sound - feel how good it is to take really deep breaths of fresh air . . . Then see yourself getting wrinkled prematurely, smelling badly, wheezing with every breath . . .feel how heavy your chest feels full of smoke. . . How bad you feel about smoking when your loved ones express their concern for you. Give yourself an alternative activity if you feel the need for a cigarette. . . I used three deep breaths. By the time I got to the third breath, my mind had moved onto more pleasant things. It's way too easy! . . . Oh yes, keep repeating to yourself: "I want to be free of cigarette addiction. I want to be healthy. I am free. It feels wonderful to be free" - Or words to that effect - The words aren't magic - they're reprogramming the subconscious part of your brain that made you think you were a smoker. Guest guest
I've recently heard of a laser treatment that supposedly works. My husband knows a few people who have done it, and they had one laser treatment and that was all they needed. If the first treatment doesn't work, you get another (I think without incurring an additional fee). I don't know where you live or if this is offered throughout the country, but I know it's available in New York and costs somewhere around $300. Guest guest
, I am NOT suggesting smoking is good in any way, When I had my explant surgery I was so stressed out that I couldn't quit. I was totally freaking out about my explant. I didn't have any support and didn't know about this group. I smoked up until the night before which I don't advise, but like I said I was freaking out and just couldn't stop myself and I didn't have any difficulties what so ever.I didn't bleed hardly at all and scarring was minimal. Don't everyone jump on me for saying this but it is the truth. I am sure everyone is different I didn't have any problems associated from my smoking. Guest guest
-Hi - I'm a former smoker. Quit for good 7 years ago. I was a light smoker, but had a weird addiction and pattern associated with smoking. When I lived on the west coast of Canada, I met some wonderful, loving holistic healing people. They turned me on to a method of " clearings " (which I was trained in as well) that goes back to when you first started and deals with decisions you made and the emotions involved. It's powerful and changes your " hard drive " forever. Unless, ofcourse, you choose in the here-and-now to begin smoking again. Hynotherapy worked well for a friend of mine. I'm not comfortable for another person to have control The hypnotist must have instilled a belief in his unconscious mind about the smell of second-hand smoke, cuz everytime he's around it, he literally freaks on everybody!! It's a little over the top, but it's kept him smoke-free ever since. I'll pray for strength for you to quit. I quit 6 times in my life and started again, until this last time 7 years ago. It's as tough as heroin to go off nicotine. Thank God I didn't try heroin in my drug days, many others though. Guest guest
Terri, I can relate. When I was a smoker, I had several surgeries. I remember when they still had the smoking rooms within the hospital. I was o.k. each time. Call it luck. Call it God's grace. I, ofcourse, advocate quitting cuz it's just so darn unhealthy for us, however, I do TOTALLY understand why it's so difficult. Like I said, it'a like coming off heroin, physically.
