How wonderful to have your husband AND your stepdad join in with this

wonderful project. Just a note, if you do have squirrels, they do like young

greens. Here is an article on your question though it isn't an organic site:

http://www.vegetable-gardening-made-simple.com/growing-broccoli-02.html

I am going to look into peanuts, oh,I planted artichokes. This makes a

beautiful  shrub plant that is used for decoration when planting vegetables

within the garden. Eggplants are easy to grow as well.

For tomatoes keep an eye out for the hummingbird...beautiful but a real bad

dude on the plants.

http://www.vegedge.umn.edu/vegpest/hornworm.htm

I keep a few parsleys...I cater to butterflies, Ilet them use a few and I keep

one

for myself. Try Lemongrass...great for anxiety and tummy or just plain tea

enjoyment. Basil can be frozen with water in a bag same with strawberries. Do

oregano also medicinal. Lemon Verbena...beautiful fragrance. Rosemary,

Lemonbalm,

...aromatic, once you get into herbs and their uses you will stay herbed!

I will have to try planting it. I love it. Are there any bugs that I should

watch out for that attack it?

I have always just grown tomatoes, herbs, bell peppers and hot peppers. But this

year I want to try carrots, onions, lettuce and garlic. I am also going to try

cucumbers to pickle this year. We only have a 50 foot by 4 foot area so even

though I thought it was enough its not so I got a raised bed kit that my husband

and my step dad are going to put together this Sunday to extend our growing

area.

I do have two strawberry plants but the squirrels eat them. I just read a great

article in http://www.organicgardening.com/ about growing peanuts. ( if you

dont get this I highly recommend it)

We are going to try them in the front of our house. I did send a note to our

city council about the living art and planting fruit trees and they are sending

it to our tree committee. I got a response right away which I was happy to see.

I am going to go plant some rosemary by our library! Austin sounds wonderful. I

have a good friend who lives there and he loves it.

Ciao-

Ange

nutritious plants grown in the world...it lowers cholesterol,

cleans out system, purifies the blood added to the vitamins

it contains.

Hello

That is wonderful that you have broccoli did you plant it?

I have a funny story to share about broccoli. There was an Italian man who

worked at a race track many years ago and there was a big race coming and the

track owners told the man they needed an area to have lots of green for the

horse owners etc to have their photos taken and they needed it quickly, so he

grew broccoli!

I am also looking to eat wild greens. They have classes on this here. I have all

kinds

of veggies including strawberries. I cut my lettuce and it is regrowing from the

bottom.

I have over a dozen herbs growing. I am known here for my herbs and Zinnias and

hollyhocks.

I have roses everywhere.

It is so fun, isn't it? Of course, I do cheat, I buy...the hubby plants. He

follows instructions wonderfully!

I dont think we have them here in Northern California, my squirrels eat my

tomatoes and my red bell peppers. I even feed them peanuts and walnuts since my

neighbors cut down all their trees to plant grass...

We have so much rosemary and the bees love it. I will try the other herbs you

suggested. I have oregano parsley basil thyme and sage
