Guest guest
You may have some swelling - nothing to worry about unless it gets out of hand. If you get red or feverish, you need to see your doctor. A hematoma is a blood clot. The drains should have taken care of most blood and other fluids but more may accumulate. Your sports bra should help keep it reduced.. Even if you do swell some, it's nothing to freak over. Dr. Melmed told one woman with extensive swelling to keep tighly - told her it would resolve itself. It took some time, but it did. She was freaking out, big time! But she did fine. One thing I would want to consider is how much tension the stitches are under. If there isn't much tension, you may be able to remove them in a week . . . Lynda mentioned ten days . . .that sounds good as well. You might keep some butterfly bandages on hand in case you feel insecure without the stitches. Vitamin E will help make your scars all but invisible. Rogene Emerald Kittee <emeraldkittee@...> wrote: I am feeling some pain (of course) and I have some swelling on my left breast. Icing is soothing. Also, that incision on the left nipple is very nasty and tender. I never want to go back to my ps, but how will I know if I have a concerning symptom? Is some swelling normal? Am I over-reacting? I have heard of hematoma - is that likely in someone who had drains for 4 days? How does one know stitches are ready to come out? Guest guest
, If you have a hematoma, I think you'd know it. It hurts like heck, so bad that you wouldn't be able touch the area without pain. Swelling is normal. A lot has happened to the poor girls! Homeopathic arnica helps with swelling and bruising. You could also get some tumeric powder and take a teapoon in some carrot juice a two or three times a day-- really good for inflammation. I would try not to worry too much. Justkeep monitoring your body and keep the sportsbra on! Bindi What symptoms are normal post-explant? I am feeling some pain (of course) and I have some swelling on my left breast. Icing is soothing. Guest guest
thank you, thank you - this makes sense, and while it was my gut instinct that I am doing ok, the prospect of jumping ship from the nasty ps made me a tad nervous. But I have my dr. lined up and you guys from keeping me from going nuts This ps said to wrap tightly and flatten the top of the breast in an ace bandage if I swell at all and keep it on all day - it sounded weird to me. > I am feeling some pain (of course) and I have some swelling on my left > breast. Guest guest
I love tumeric! I am a weird one and sprinkle it on food Don't know where I got it from. I will have to put it in some juice. I have been taking arnica as part of the protocol and am almost out but I have had zero bruising (the bromelein helped with this too!) so you are reminding me to get some more. thanks, Bindi. > > , > If you have a hematoma, I think you'd know it.
