Guest guest
Dear Dr. Hester,I was a bit shocked to read your statements in the AJC.Did Mr. Hendrick accurately quote you claiming that Silicone has been found to be safer and more effective ...? I have worked closely in this issue for over 11 years and can recall no studies that verify this claim in any manner. Further, thousands of women are reporting serious problems to the FDA from both saline and silicone gel filled implants. If you have good science to back this claim, I would be very interested in reading it.Best regards,Ilena Rosenthalwww.BreastImplantAwareness.org http://www.ajc.com/health/content/health/stories/2006/11/22/1124lvsilicone.html Silicone implants back, for better or worse Controversy continues By BILL HENDRICKThe Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 11/24/06 Doctors and even opponents of silicone breast implants predict there'll be a boom in the bust-augmentation business now that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has ended a 14-year virtual ban on the use of the silicone gel implants. Dr. T. Roderick Hester, chief of plastic surgery at Emory University and a doctor at Paces Plastic Surgery Group, said Monday that he expects more women to seek breast augmentation now that silicone is again available. Silicone has been found to be safer, more effective and more natural-looking than saline implants, which tend to deflate.
