Guest guest
That's the appropriate stance to take, I agree. We will not easily find plastic surgeons who do not continue to implant women. It is just a fact of life...some women can have them in their body and not seem to react, at least right away, and so almost all ps's will implant and support women who want them. There are only a very, very few plastic surgeons who take our side. But those that don't take our side can still understand that there are some women who just plain need to get them out, and they can hopefully understand the very necessary and important steps that need to be taken to remove them properly. If you have found such a doctor, I would be confident they would do a good job. It sounds like this one crosses her "t"'s and dots her "i"'s, and that's a good thing. This new dr. is a type of media liaison for the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery - also, she provided some sort of testimony for the FDA's panel on the Mentor silicone implants, and was quoted as being pleased that the ban on them was lifted. She was hoping for regulations that allowed specific ps's to be able to use them. She wished to make them available to women who wanted them. Is this cause for worry? So far, I am very impressed by her, and we are on the same page as far as the explant, and her attention to detail, wanting my records, etc, is most comforting. Ultimately, they all are plastic surgeons and make their money that way. I don't want to shoot myself in the foot and not go to her just because our opinions differ on whether implants are safe or not. Finding a ps who abhors all implants is a pipe dream, so I am not sure I should let these recent findings color my impression of her if we agree on all the points of MY explant. Guest guest
I agree with you. What matters is that she does it right. Her beliefs are not important, although of course it would be nice if she recognized the problems we have. I would get things in writing - I keep saying that, but will continue saying it -- Get in writing that you want an en bloc, with capsulectomy. Get in writing that you want the implants returned to you. And anything else you want... --- In , " Emerald Kittee " <emeraldkittee@...> wrote: > > ok, I did some more research.
