Guest guest
Morning Vicki and everyone, Speaking of lab results, I did have very abnormal, high labs when I was initially diagnosed. Then, several months later and several months after I stopped the Prednisone, I had follow-up labs , of which my neuro said, " There is NO improvement in your bloodwork and the poly is active- " . He was telling me I really needed to go back on the Pred, which I refused. I never went back to see him nor took any meds at all and gradually improved, but I cannot say at all how my blood was at what stage or anything. I know it took a long time to get back to " normal " as to the weakness and stumbling and fatigue. I just ignored it all and got a job and never looked back. I've only been tested for sed rate maybe 2-3 times in all those years. So, there is so much I just don't know and I wish I'd gotten all my initial hospital records at that time. When i had the labs in early March, sed rate was 5 and CPK was 41, which seems awfully low. I've come across a couple of articles in research , thru Medline, briefly mentioning that, if one has the disease chronically for a long time, CPKs may well show up as normal or low. I'd like to know more about that. Sed rates too.I also know that labs flucuate daily, depending... am wondering if things like permanent muscle loss and/or taking meds such as long term antihistamines and stuff like ibuprofen can and do affect the test results. I don't think any doctor really knows??? You may well still one day go into remission Vicki- and I hope so- there's just no way to predict anything, which is very frustrating!!!!!BTW- I like your analogy re: no makeup!!You better make sure you have some on whenever you go out, or " they " may just think you're one of them " zombies " !!! Maybe some of use could also wear signs around our necks, saying " I'M SICK- BE KIND TO ME! " No special weekend plans- just catching up. My hubby and I are planning to go to NHampshire for a short get away in a couple of weeks, without the kids. Looking forward to it, if I can arrange adequate animal care.
