I am going to look into this a bit further here before I send the letter - want to make sure I cover all my bases. > > > > > > , > > > Dang, you told her what's what, didn't you! > > > > > > And not only did you take responsibility for your own health, I > do > > believe you made an impact on her. Guest guest
It might be worth reporting unprofessional behavior. I think it was last year in New Hampshire an elderly doctor almost lost his license for calling a woman fat (she was but she was offended by it)--it was all over the local news. KateSunny <wellnessnow@...> wrote: , not sure how it works in the U.S. but in Canada we report a physician to the Medical Association...it goes by province here. Also, a copy to the hospital he/she works through. It was a gruelly process to go through, and I never did get an apology or anyone being accountable for their actions. I had a patient advocate assigned to me. She was very caring, yet placating at the same time. She told me from the beginning, "don't expect too much".The one thing that DOES happen is that there is a black mark against them in their file. So if anyone else reports them they add up, and hopefully are spoken to one day.Love ya,Sunny > >> > ,> > Dang, you told her what's what, didn't you! > > > > And not only did you take responsibility for your own health, I do > believe you made an impact on her. Guest guest
It is important to report unprofessional and illegal conduct. It is hard enough to hold doctors accountable - even for egregious conduct. My plastic surgeon lost his license only 8 years after killing a woman with the improper use of anesthesia (not my determination, but the state's). He operated for at least a decade, falsely advertising he was board certified in plastic surgery. By the time he finally lost his license, he had several criminal charges of sexual assault against him. I found this out when I was trying to find my records, just a couple of years ago. It takes an act of God to discipline a doctor, let alone take away a license. No competent professional doctor should be concerned about discussions of reporting doctors who are not. > > I'm feeling uncomfortable with this discussion of reporting doctors . . . > > We need ALL the good doctors we can get . . .I have no doubt doctors read this group. > > I don't doctors to feel that, if they take on a woman for explant, they will be asking for trouble! . . .NOT SO! > > 's doctor was over-the-top with the stuff she put through. Guest guest
Kate, I think in alot of cases, people get used to being abusive, because nobody says anything. Who knows how they were raised? Just because people have a degree, doesn't necessarily mean they have emotional healing. When you're in a trusting, professional position, it's twice the whammy, however, when you offend people. Sometimes I would just say, " what you just said offended me, " and if they respond and apologize, I'm willing to go the second round. Otherwise, I take steps to bring them to accountability. Guest guest
Rogene, I'm sure if any professional & caring doctors are reading these posts, they will totally understand what is being discussed. They are not one of the unprofessional ones. I believe it's important for us to speak against abuse, in any situation. I'm sorry this has made you uncomfortable, Rogene. It's a place my healing journey has taken me only a few times. For all you awesome, loving doctors, out there, we DO need you and respect you.
