Hi Joanne,

We bought 7 grown chickens a few years ago and they have kept us in eggs for

about 6 years. Now we only have two chickens left but they are still laying one

egg a day each. They were originally cage hens so we got them cheap. They're

very tame too. Rhode Island Reds. Sometimes if my son lets them out of their

yard (a big one) they come inside the house if the back door is open. They love

to get bread and vegetable scraps too. I also pick fresh green grass for them

and they really love that too. I don't think we'd be allowed to have chickens

in the city. What a shame. I'd hate to have to buy eggs. Our chickens lay

lovely rich ones. Deep golden yolks.

For ine, who I think asked about injectable Vitamin C - my experience was

with it as a component of a Meyer's cocktail, an IV nutrient therapy that also

included magnesium and B vitamins. My internist recommended a series of Meyer's

treatments as part of a treatment plan to reverse a downward spiral, and it did

help. That was more than 5 years ago and I haven't had one or thought I needed

it since.

Re the FDA articles - I asked my daughter-in-law, who works in the lab of a U.S.

compounding pharmacy, and she checked with their professional affiliations and

could find no actual incidences, and she referred me to a statement by the CEO

of their professional organization, who'd been investigating the member. So it

seems, for the time being, it's not a point of concern for us.

The Meyer's Cocktail is someone controversial, I think, and many health care

professionals don't approve of them. The internist I saw is a traditionally

trained MD who came to incorporate wholistic therapies and practitioners into

her practice. Nutrition, supplements, food intolerances, biofeedback, massage

therapy, cognitive therapy (doesn't cure fibro, but a good attitude makes it

easier to bear). I was diagnosed with fibro in '93 and started seeing this

internist in '95. Through the years we tried many treatments that were

considered experimental or off-label at the time -- and we avoided the harsher

drugs and still do. I'm lucky to have found her because by the time Lyrica et

al came along, I was doing too well to consider risking the side effects.

Earlier in my fibro life, I might have.
