Guest guest
Wednesday as in the day before the surgery or as in several weeks before? I am asking as I had a deflation and had to wait several days before surgery...... shari
Guest guest
. . . Personally, I would feel very comfortable with having the doctor deflate the implants the day before explanting . . . I haven't heard of it done before - but from the standpoint of being able to have more space to work, it makes sense . . . if she's found that the tissues are even easier to work with, I'm sure this doctor knows what she's talking about. I suspect that surgeons frequently reduce the size of salines before removing them so they have room to work. The day before is what's new here. Guest guest
hi Shari and Rogene, The ps clarified that she likes to do this 2-4 wks prior to the surgery - that way the tissue has already shrunk and you are just dealing with the rest of the internal healing (I am majorly paraphrasing here) She said she has done this for the " few " women who want them out with no reimplantation. This is interesting. She also thinks I could take a Friday off and be back at work (hiding drains under a blazer?) on the Monday. I would take more time off than that, and wouldn't / couldn't show up with drains anyhow. So, it sounds like getting them deflated wks prior may speed up the healing of the actual surgery. > > Wednesday as in the day before the surgery or as in several weeks before? Guest guest
Brilliant points, Shari - yes, I wonder: what does it feel like? for 2-4 wks walking around like that? is plasticy and squishy?? that must have been sooo freaky for you to go around with one deflated!! And I wondered about the fluid too - can't imagine how all that feels - ouch - and if they numb the spot or what. I knew she mentioned drains for the surgery, but that must be for the fluids accumlated during that process? She stressed that psychologically, it is an advantage to do this prior to the surgery too. I don't know the bag size - I went from an A to a full C, so...not sure how that will work. Apparently, this is how she recommends it for those not getting reimplanted. I also want to know if I can wear one of those add a cup bras after deflating and after surgery. There is no way I can go to work suddenly flat chested - I am not up for dealing with that, when the whole office is 20 something macho guys - those stares would be worse than the ones I get now! I plan on trying to be a B for a bit, so I can heal my own psyche and not worrying about who is noticing what or cracking rude comments. > > well - > > I am not sure... of course i am not a doctor so she could very ell be > right... one thing to consider here.... please don't think I am being negative but > there is a consideration - I do think that if it will speed healing or make > her job easier then it may very well be a good idea... > > now I had a complete deflation early into my implantation, before I realized > my implants were making me ill - it happened of a Sunday... Guest guest
oh Patty, I know, it DOESN'T sound pleasant - she said I could have it done tomorrow! (I am not doing it then of course - want more info and don't even know what it would cost for this on-the-spot) I had (during my mystery heart/lung ailment) a shot of something right into the lungs through the back, and I am not needlephobic, but this was just horrid. It doesn't sound like they knock you out, but I am asking believe me!! And I wondered, too, why hadn't I read about this yet? I will bring more info tomorrow nite! > > > > Wednesday as in the day before the surgery or as in several weeks > before? Guest guest
oh Shari, how awful...so you have fluid build up again? is she going to have to drain it again? > > I sure hope they are using local at least.... after my explant I had a > massive fluid build up as I didn't have drains and my ps had to go in w/ a needle > and syringe several times to " manually " drain over 80cc's of fluid out - no > anesthesia.... not a very fun procedure in my opinion... also a good > probability of why I have an infection and fluid build up now according to my appt on > last Friday.... > > shari >
Guest guest
hi Rogene, yes, the ps did say it gives me time to get used to how I will look so that after major surgery, it's less emotional. I am kind of neutral on that. You are gonna see it one way or the other, right? I think it might be that she thinks patients will change their minds, and a few weeks later can be reimplanted. I am sure that does happen sometimes. There is no way I want to be upfront about it at work. I only work closely on a team with a few others and may say something only to them; I appreciate what you are saying, and am already going to be upfront with people in other areas of my life, but I have no interest in schooling this other bunch of young guys - and not the most evolved bunch, mind you. If I worked in a different atmosphere, yes, but not here I will have alot of other people I can educate, which is fine. Thanks, Rogene, for everything! > > > > well - > > > > I am not sure... of course i am not a doctor so she could very ell > be > > right... one thing to consider here.... please don't think I am > being negative but > > there is a consideration - I do think that if it will speed > healing or make > > her job easier then it may very well be a good idea... > > > > now I had a complete deflation early into my implantation, before > I realized > > my implants were making me ill - it happened of a Sunday...
