Guest guest
Hi , I also live out in the country, where before I lived in a small town. The problem with where I live now is that although we have over 7 acres of our own the surrounding properties are farmers fields and they use crop dusters to spray chemicals on the fields. We want to move out of here and move to a place surrounded by woods instead of chemical laden fields. I always keep my windows closed and in the summer the air conditioning on because of the allergies and chemicals outside. You are very fortunate to live where you do now. It makes a lot of sense why you feel better now. Beverly
Guest guest
Beverly - Yes, I am fortunate in where I live, but I will also say that the choice of this particular property was the result of a search based on very clear parameters. Because we already were well aware of my chemical issues, we ruled out many areas due to crop-dusting, a prevalence of row cropping (and subsequent likely contamination of surface and groundwater), CAFOs, lead mining, tourist and recreational buildup, and landfills. Finding this particular place was pure luck, and I'm so thankful for it. I'd like to also note that it's a real team effort to make this lifestyle work for me -- my husband's job is tied to an urban area 3 hours away, so we maintain two households and he commutes here for weekends and vacations. We both take on extra work in side jobs to pay for it all. I'm grateful, too, that we can do this. Ten years ago, it would have been impossible for me with my health and family obligations at that time. I had to walk away from certain family demands to make this happen. It was very difficult, and it's still difficult at times. It was, however, the right choice for me. P _,_._,___
