Guest guest
Interesting point... maybe working to establish a national rating system for life insurance much like the fire rating system for homeowners insurance? Mike [texasems-L] unions Connie, my experience with unions has been that they take your dues every month, and don't (or can't) do a damn thing for you. When I was a member of IAFF Local 399, the union told us that if we included them in our grievance process, they would make union funds available if legal counsel became necessary. The reality was that we were (and still are) at-will civilian employees, and had no contractual right to collective bargaining. EMS is still too new for people to believe that it is a must-have service, unlike fire and police. I can't think of a single city that tries to attract new residents with the promise of a great EMS. I also can't think of an insurance company that gives better rates if your local EMS is of a particular quality. Tell me if I'm wrong. We are too easy to replace to flex any muscle with the public or our employers, and our numbers too few to make them care if we don't like our working conditions. Somebody sound off if I'm wrong, please.
